This was taken about 5 years ago the last time it saw daylight. I put it on dollies, pushed it into the side of the garage, and have not touched it since.

Mini update.
It had a close encounter of the wrong kind with a '76 rubber bumper Midget. And lost.
Totaled by insurance. Sold the salvage to a guy who has more room and experience than I do and has wanted a Mini for a long time, so I have reasonable confidence it'll be resurrected.
While I'm somewhat sad to see it go, reducing the fleet by 1 isn't necessarily a bad thing.
whats sad fo me is I A.) have no projects and 2.) don't have any non-fnished. I have failed so hard at this.

Did that happen at the car show? That was quite the display of classics, where was that?
In reply to NOHOME:
It happened during the American British Reliability Run this year. My own fault. Combination of getting distracted by MD cops on the side of the road and RHD changing my field of vision.
Fortunately, if you're in a Midget and you have to get hit - get hit by a classic Mini. Their car has minimal damage and continued. The Mini was done and had to go into the sag trailer and I continued in the back-up car; which by pure coincidence was a 2012 MINI Cooper S. Which was nice because that car has nice things like heat and a working defroster... and will start when it's cold. Which was the case in WV.
It kinda sucks - I was very close to bagging the Mini and taking the Spitfire again since it's much better with cold weather. I'm 99% sure if I'd been in the Spitfire the accident wouldn't have happened.
Insurance, salvage, sold. I just can't take on another project of that scale right now. If I kept it the car would languish in waiting for years. Better to pass it on to someone who is better capable of fixing it.
Yes, I know that could also be said of my ES, but by most accounts, that car would more likely be scrapped. I just can't let that happen.
There's approximately 12 tires stacked in and on my winter Miata, which has not moved in 9 months. But that seems to be small potatoes compared to most of this thread. And in theory I will get it out this week. In. Theory.

You need to haul that P1800 up here for a shell overhaul when I get done with the Molvo. I should be retired and looking for another customer car by that point. Getting bored of Brit cars and unless I can find an E-type client would just as well try something else. The Volvo is pretty simple stuff.

I may very well take you up on that offer. As rusty as it is, very little of it is out of the ordinary and replacement panels/parts are available. I already have some, plus a cleaner nose section.
Feeling bad that my Bugeye might belong here right now.
I havent made much progress at all since I bought my house in April. I havent even managed to get it to my house yet. My shop keeps getting filled with one more load of boxes or furniture from my moms houses (shes downsizing from 2 houses to a 1 bedroom apartment), so I havent had room for the car or time to retrieve it. (add to that having to find a friend with a truck/trailer who is free).
Then again, I did repair work on the header last month. The other week I cleaned up and welded the heat shield. My christmas list has a number of parts for the car on it...
I AM GOING TO WORK ON IT.
Soon
as soon as I get the stuff unpacked from my garage and shop...
Photo from the last real work I did on it... Pulling the dash.. (in March) After that I just want it packed up to move and havent gotten it moved yet.

I need to get my motor out of your garage before you wedge it in the bugeye.
66 Mustang. Was my DD back in the early 80's, started a street/strip nitrous build in the late 80's. Built a 302, C-4, and 9" rear for it. Bought new frame rails and other sheet metal it needs along with new bumpers etc. then jumped projects to a 70 Firebird and the Mustang just sat in garage. Has had several storage places, survived two divorces, been stolen and recovered, but no work done in almost 30 years now.

In reply to NOT A TA: Its been so long that you double posted this car in this thread!
Go work on it. Even for 5 minutes.
In reply to Gimp:
I would need to get the bugeye to the shop for there to be danger of that, now the miata....
(Honestly, your motor is on the other side of the lift from the offending stacks of boxes and not a hindrance)
How long does a finished car have to sit being ignored until it descends to being a "Ran when parked Dead Project"? Two years of non-use. Battery was dead this spring and the mechanical challenge of replacing it overwhelmed me.

NOHOME wrote: My skeleton is the GT. I keep it only because I have had it 37 years, its not worth anything and I think they are beautiful. When I last drove it, it made a noise like the exhaust was hitting something. Then a year went by and I forgot to drive it or look into the noise. And did not miss driving it. So it sits. The Molvo has my full attention for the next few years, and probably even a few more as I shake it down and, who knows might even drive it around a bit. Realistically I don't see the GT ever going back on the road as by the time I got back to it, the fuel is going to go bad in the tank, the tires will age out, and so will the hoses brakes and battery. Since MGBs are not worth much, I will see that as tossing good money after bad. So its going to sit until who knows when. I might turn it into the next project after the Molvo.
To Apexcarver :
Alzheimers AND a post whore! That is a winning combination if I ever saw one. I did not even recall starting this thread!
Wanna buy an MGB GT?
Apexcarver wrote: In reply to NOHOME: I'll trade you two mopeds and a field and brush mower for it!
Punctuation can be important! When I first read this post, I thought you were trading him a field AND a brush mower for the field...

Nononono, two of these;
one of these
I even have the snowblower snout for it.
NO REAL ESTATE!
(pictures are google pulls, not the items I have)
Tempting, however the combined storage/parking footprint would still be about the same, so no real gain.

I've always wanted an MGB GT. I want to wear corduroys and a jacket with patches on the elbows and smile at young ladies in skirts while I drive through a campus of brick buildings on my way out of town and this has always seemed like the ideal car for that. The only thing keeping me from buying one was finding one.

You almost make me want to take it for a drive through The local University Campus.
This one has some nice features
1890cc engine.
OD gearbox
Center lock alloy rims
4 link coil over rear suspension
New interior
New front suspension
New custom leather seats
Cant think of a reason why it would not make the drive to Texas. I used to commute to SD with it from London Ontario it might be the word "GT" is misplaced on this car!
