Daylan needs to stop talking E36 M3 and put the motor in his car already...

Oh I've been pricing flights Thursday night to Gainesville..

3 years..not 2... but yes I average 30K+ miles a year driving.
Unless one has an affinity for driving old cars as dailies I feel like Hazmat will be the one that requires less nickle and dime work both in regards to time and money spent to keep it suitable for racking up 30k miles a year.
Since it sounds like this is just the jumping point for the next major project to come I'd go with whichever car gets you to that point quicker. The good news is you're so far right side up on Hazmat you do have options.

Yeah.. I really do love the 90's Hondas and the lack of emissions testing for the GSR has huge upsides. But the parts availability for hazmat is a crucial benefit.
Especially with the miles I put on the cars. The STS car saw 12k miles in the time I owned it. And that was on top of the 15k I put on my other cars.
Wait, you want to drive the Civic as a daily too? I thought it was supposed to be a dedicated track car. I'm so confused...

Temporarily to get out from under the focus debt wise. A car I can't use on a day to day basis in some form is extremely hard to justify in my life.
Eventually I want it to get crazy. But that's long term.
I’m all for getting out of debt. People look me a crazy when I tell them both my cars are paid for.
Besides that useless info here’s some more. I’ve always wanted a 4 door teg. But I understand frustration of NLA parts. Im having hard time sourcing few parts for my cars, Even in all the local JY
In reply to Subscriber-unavailabile :
Yeah the internet has made things easier. But NLA parts are still a PITA. And spending lots of time scouring the internet for a simple part is really aggravating
I was just reading the GASTROPOD thread and it occurred to me that the integra while legal is such a borderline deal that I could end up looking like a massive dick.
I want to play nice with everyone. I like to play to win, but it's only sustainable for so long before you step on toes. That's been a lesson I witnessed first-hand at solo nationals a few years ago.
I've been seeing more and more 8th gens Si around.. Funny how that works..
Since I will be tracking this car.. I need to be realistic... the integra will kill me on the inside any time I hurt it.. The civic is a civic..
There are going to be PLENTY of people (not on the forum) that call BS on an 8th gen Si for under $2k. Welcome to the Challenge.
In reply to mazdeuce - Seth :
I feel like before pics of the interior should do a good job of shutting them up.

touche, but Hazmat involved no horse trading or questionable tactics.. just a lot of luck..

this is also true
Another boring Saturday.. And so I'm on the hunt for parts..
This greeted me right as I walked into the yard..
I've been planning for post $2k challenge stuff. And maybe stuff for the challenge. I wanted to be able to put a spoiler on Hazmat without destroying the stock trunk. To Civics have been added to the junkyard by my house over the past two weeks and they were both Coupes.
Went looking for this car because it looked like the trunk might be solid...... Well nope.. But #2 was almost pristine...
Got it off the car in no time at all. It's just too bad that the spoiler is missing.... but wait... didn't #1 have a good spoiler??
Yes it did... I managed to slap it on to the trunk I had scavenge and they only charged me for the trunk. score!
In reply to spacecadet :
Yeah I made the mistake of not sticking the injectors back into a TBI throttle body I harvested once. So I had to pay a for everything separately. Don't ever do that.
In reply to Daylan C :
Yeah I stripped the latch and cable because I didn't want to pay for them. I might have gotten away with the latch..
Receipts for record keeping purposes. I wouldn't include the core charge in value for the challenge, the environment fee maybe?
Honestly I just appreciate that I'm not the only one that has a build thread that's essentially just piling up parts while trying to talk himself into (or out of depending on the day) getting rid of the car.

Congrats on the purchase. Very solid cars.

Definitely not alone in that. I'm in hoarding mode right now and I'll start driving and doing development later in the month.
You'll need to log in to post.
