Basically yesterday, I got bored and the weather cooperated for some driveway wrench turning.
The victim is my vanilla mostly bone stock 2013 Avalanche I daily drive. 190k on the clock after buying it with under 36k 4 yrs ago. 2 yrs ago I cut the stock cst back off and installed a Silverado intermediate pipe, a summit knock off magnaflow muffler and a 45^ elbow to direct the exhaust gases towards the outside of the vehicle. Beyond that, stock as stock can be......
I took it apart for a summit clearance rack buy of lowering spindles and springs. Yes, it's 4wd too... doesn't matter as GM didn't build them any different, besides hubs.
Fairly, uneventful to swap spindles except I learned you must put in the top hub bolt before putting the upper ball joint into the spindle. That same joint needs the end cut off up to the nut or it won't make the axle shaft turn. The front abs wire bracket also needs a trim to clear the top caliper bracket bolt.
All in all I have about 6 hrs swapping out the spindles on my back in the driveway with just common hand tools. Tomorrow, I'll finish the rear out with springs, bumpstops, and new shocks.
