Small update:
I upgraded the steering wheel with a suede momo today, I ran into some roadblocks but I think I came up with good solutions.
The first stumble was that the oem column cover has a space for the wiring harness to pass through, leaving an exposed irregularly shaped gap where the momo adapter meets it. I found it unsightly and distracting, you can even see the wiring harness through the hole. So I layed up a carbon fiber coverplate for it that mounts to the existing holes using factory hardware.
The second opportunity for improvement was that I didn't think the momo horn button really flowed with the styling of the interior, so I found some leather from a med kit out of an rx330 and I retrimmed the momo button in that. I think it looks the business and the suede wheel feels great in the hand as well as really classing up the place. I love the chronometer guage cluster in these cars, so unique and interesting.
And lastly. When we were shooting a driving impression of the car for the gqm show this weekend and I noticed that the keyring was rattling against the keyfob and driving me nuts. So I found some weatherstripping from an old volvo that had a nice sueded feel to it and I covered the ring in that, now it is rattle free and goes with the suede overload that she's got goin on now. Snuggy.
