I need to do the same fill panel for my cut hood over winter, it catches air at highway speed and the skin flops around not to mention it cracked from people just slamming it down to get it latched without the support of the hood layers being together anymore
whoa! the new house is sweet!!!
Its definitely unique for the area. we love it.

Mini update. all the FRP panels are fitted (save for the canards) and the car is on the ground.

Anyways here is some pictures of my Panda car.

Its the little things like making the gas door flush which take the longest.

The Gramlite 57Pros have found a new home, I never really liked how they looked on the car and didnt fit the new track aesthetic.

A new set of wheels is on the way and then I can start dialing in the ride height and fitment.

So I managed to carve out some time and My friend Nick (the one doing the painting) and I got the hood, trunk, doors and associated seals off in preparation to get the jams sprayed. Its a shame you spend so long getting everything to fit right only to blow it all apart again. I have been assured its only going to get more complete from here on out.

The Colour I chose was Nissans own JWO or Millenium Jade and so far it looks fantastic.

The decision was made to keep the glass in as the replacement seal kits are extremely hard to come by and the glass is incredibly expensive. I really dont want to chance having a 2nd mortgage should one break.

I have ordered new door seals which should seal up the bit of wind noise I was getting before. They werent terribly expensive either (all things considered)

Got the car "re-assembled". Now its time to get the outside sanded and ready to go. The rear overfenders will be painted separately and attached after the fact.

Rear overfenders have been mounted and primed. The Front fenders were not very straight out of the mold and needed more sanding and filling.  Progress is slow because everything is being adjusted and modified to fit correctly. I have next weekend blocked out to have the car sanded and prepped. Fingers crossed.

Sneak peak of the new wheels on the back as well cool

I apologize for the thread jack, but this sentence hit home immediately with the reference to the sunroof drains. What are the indicators that these drains need attention? please message me thru here thanks......don't want to get in Patrick's way wink

In reply to yupididit :

They are Advan GT. 18x9.5 +29. which are a lighter more track focused wheel than the gramlites I had before.

In reply to 759NRNG :

it is a common problem on P1 Volvos (C30, S40 & V50) for the sunroof drains to become disconnected over time and leak into the floor. The tell tail sign is a soaked rear driver side.passenger foot well.  The fix is to pull the A Pillar trims and just replace the whole lot with clear PVC tube.

A little sad news but we had to restructure the fleet a little on account of the little one. Making payments on a vehicle we cant use just isn't the smartest plan.

The 86 was on the chopping block, We had a minor mishap with it in the fall and hit a wheel chock which had come off a truck on the highway.  The impact destroyed the driver side front wheel in the whole ordeal which was included in the insurance payout. the result was a near 8K repair in which the whole side of the car was fixed and repainted.

due to the crazy market, we still ended out getting 3K more than we owed when we traded it in.

Enter the 2020 XC40 in R Design Trim.  Its primarily my wifes car so I can have my wagon back so we are now fully capable of sharing the pick up and drop off at daycare.

The R32 is getting closer to paint. Its been sanded down and should be in the booth shortly.

We still have the Micra, which I am not too sure what to do with. Its paid for is dead reliable and doesn't really make sense to get rid of. So it will just get occasionally driven.

My Dad still has the BMW 2002. But the Mini was sold off when I moved as unfortunately I didn't have room for him to store his project at my my house.

Big update time. I've had the car out of my possession for over a year now waiting on body work and paint. This weekend we finally got some colour laid out on the car and it looks Fantastic.

First are all the components which are to be painted black. Bye Bye banana wing.

Everything else was set to be painted JW0 or Millennium Jade. I chose this colour because I wanted to stay within the factory Nissan offerings and it doesn't exactly scream boy racer (the GT wing and canards will do that haha) .

Pre clear

Some minor assembly

Now the main event.

I am so stoked on how this turned out. Now its time for reassembly and since  the car is back home I can get to fitting the brakes and other parts I have sitting in boxes for it.

Oh yea and finally drive it.

Ive been doing events at Shannonville since around 2007. Its a great place and I am glad to see that the new owners have cleaned up it a lot. I will definitely look into lapping nights once the car is properly tuned.

I got the new Advan GT wheels on. theyre 18 x 9.5 + 29 so they will fit perfect with a 10mm spacer.  I couldnt be happier with how it turned out.

I still need to make some brackets for the canards, diffuser and grille but its coming together nicely.

Ive been slowly plugging away at this thing.

My company sent me to Austria to shadow design for 3 weeks at our facility over there. It just happened to be 8 minutes drive from the Redbull Ring in the small town of Knittlefeld.

During the 3 weeks I was there they had Porsche cup, Ferrari Challenge and a GT Race. The highlight of the trip was seeing the LongTail blast around the track.

Back in Canada and just been enjoying the car. Short lived as it soon went on jackstands for some tinkering.

During my time in Austria, I had some parcels arrive from Jesse Streeter. I picked up this used Kakimoto Regu 06&R from Crooooooooooober for a steal. It ended out being just over $500 shipped. The rolled tip is a nice detail and the slight angle will look nice with the diffuser.

While on Jackstands, things have snowballed (as they usually do) I came across a deal on some 350z rear brembos and figured it was a good time to finally tackle the brake swap.

Everything is so large that its comical

The setup had included brackets for the rear calipers but I will use the ones I designed. They've been collecting dust for the past couple years so not as shiny anymore. More trimming of the back plate is obviously required but they fit perfectly.

This is how the spaceship currently sits. Just waiting on fasteners for the calipers which should hopefully be here tomorrow.

Time flies.

Ive spent much of the summer figuring out this brake package which supposed to be an easy swap.

First the spacing of the caliper to the rotor was 10mm off. Turns out it was designed for 300zx which has aluminum knuckles which are thicker. I turned up some spacers at work and quickly found the next issue.

The bracket hits the lower control arm before the steering stop. After much head scratching and searching through broken photobucket links ect. I was able to deduce that the 300zx and R32 balljoing position is different by 15mm.

So I chopped away until everything was happy. You can see the adapter templates on the floor which I created to rotate the caliper to clear.

The new superleggera lower arm was nowhere near strong enough to drive on so I ordered some 240sx lower arms from rockauto and got to work with the scanner.

I designed and 3d printed a jig to make sure the cut was the same on both the left and right arm and had laser cut patch panels made.

I ordered some R35 Brembo decals for the calipers to complete the look.

The brakes are incredible and are well worth the effort I had to put into them to make them work.

While the R32 has been down I managed to scratch the driving itch by doing a few autocross events in the Micra. I am hooked on it now and hope to make more events next summer.

Slow car fast is a lot of fun.

These brakes are one of the best upgrades I have done to this car.

I took the car and got it aligned the other day and not it drives great. With the added rear fender width i was able to pull a ton of camber out and can now take advantage of the larger contact patch.

Ive been driving it occasionally here and there. It really needs a tune before doing any track time or real spirited driving. At the moment its running very rich on the Japanese tuned ECU and Larger 440cc GTR injectors.

The car runs flawlessly in the higher RPM but anything around town it wants to stall out.  Time for an ECU Master and some new larger injectors.

Not much driving this season but thats life.

So I managed to make it out in the R32 to the final round of autocross this year. It felt so good to be behind the wheel again.

Prior to the event , I pulled out the "tuned" ecu, Larger GTR injectors and resistor pack, and rewired in the stock Injectors and it ran flawlessly. The AFRs were spot on.

The car did reasonably well, that being said I am by no means an expert in autocross (but now I am hooked)  It was a little too stiff for the course layout, A little fiddling with the dampers helped out a lot.

The brakes are incredible although i didn't really use them much as this was a faster course.

A couple of photos from the paddock. Unfortunately, the photographer who usually takes the action shots wasnt able to make this event.

The frustrations of owning this car are pretty much immediately forgotten after a day on track.

The winter blues have hit really hard this year. While the car is stored nicely indoors, the garage isn't an ideal place to be in the winter.

I have a little indoor workshop which I use for tinkering on the 3d printer ect.  Work has been crazy busy this past few months so the last thing I wanted to do was Mechanical Design all day then the same thing in the evening.

However, reading some threads on here and seeing youtube content motivated me to get started on my oil cooler ducting. I am fortunate enough to have access to some nice equipment so it was time to take advantage.

I've been sitting on the scan data for a while now so I imported it to solidworks and got to modeling.

this is a view from the wheel well.

I tried my best for follow the 1/3rd inlet size and keep gradual curves but was somewhat limited by packaging constraints.

This view shows how it needed to dodge the intercooler piping and how it meets up with the hole in the front bumper.

I managed to get it to print in one piece on my Ender 3 Max which makes the process a bit easier. It still took the better part of 2 days with the .4mm nozzle. It was printed in PETG material but I think I will skin it in Fiberglass and resin or Carbon if im feeling fancy. I have heat serts for the 6 holes to mount it to the cooler, I just need to laser out the brackets at work. Ive got some high temp gasketing to seal it to the core.

It fits as well as it should and I couldn't be happier with the result. I am still figuring out the best way to do the ducting on the back of the cooler it might be tight with wheel clearance if I run it straight out the back and towards the ground.

This has been a fun project so far and has motivated me to get back to work.

Just wanted to chime in and say I love this project!  As a long time Nissan nerd, Millennium Jade never disappoints, and your car pulls it off so well.

I'm sure the oil cooler duct will work perfectly fine, but did you consider adding some turning vanes on the inside to force more air to flow over the top part?  I'm always amazed how many things that were previously 'unmanufacturable ' with normal processes are just a bit more time on a 3D printer.
