We bought our house about the same time that my family was selling off my grandparent's vacation house in Connecticut. Before selling the house we were given a chance to pick through the stuff no one else wanted and I grabbed this wicker set for my porch. it must have ben bought by my great-grandfather shortly after buying the cabin as there was a tag on the bottom dated 1934. When we got it home we cleaned it up repainted them and put new fabric on the cushions. They've been out front of our house ever since. They are super comfortable with real springs in them and I sit out there almost all year. They were getting a bit tired looking and since I have been fixing the porch up a bit I recovered them. Now I just have to find apaint that will stick to them as everything I've tried so far keeps flaking off.
The tired old covers:
This one had bees move in so it looks a bit worse having had some emergency nest removal done:
I'm clearly not a pro. I stapled the new fabric over the very heavy original upholstery on the couch:
I don't know why but I like bright stripes. Maybe they look like they'd be somewhere I'd go on vacation:
The chair had a fancy sewn cover that I lack the skill to make so I cut a piece of wood to staple the new fabric to and attached it with liquid nails:
It's probably not right but it's very comfy:
Good as new:
