Planning ahead, I've been looking into plumbing solutions for the rear-mount radiator setup. Current plan is to run silicone for about a foot from the engine to an 1.5" ID aluminum hard line that runs to the radiator (mirror setup for return line). Should provide the flex needed.
Pumping duties will fall to my Davies-Craig EWP with micro controller.
Good couplers were a question mark.
Wiggins clamps are damn expensive, so I've dug up a couple cheaper alternatives:

a bit pricey (if you dont have the friend discount) but worth every damn penny!

Hell they are supposed to be for dune buggys and rock crawler hill climbers anyways.
I was thinking roundy-round racing unit.
Like the looks of this though:

Already have a 2300cfm fan.
That's the theme of my life!
So I celebrated saying the RX7 was on hold last night by mudding some drywall and then cutting some vents in the hood of the car.
It's so hard to pull away!

This is so cool to watch. Thanks for sharing the fabrication details
Underhood temps should be cooler now. Hot air pours out of these things with the fan on.
ok, ill bite. how did you choose the spacing, angle, etc? how did you radius the bend?
The flap starts just in front of the radiator shroud and the vents start just after the shroud. The last vent drops just in front of the alternator.
I radiused the bends with my hands and a speed square. I plan on opening them up a little more than they stand now.
So I'm pretty sure I could get a Ford 8.8 irs, new 4.56 ring and pinion and locker for less than a Mazda Torsen....
News? Well we got moved into the new house. This is the new garage with attached workshop. No photos inside yet.
New back yard
And my new 1953 Ford Golden Jubilee, complete with hot driver.
Oh yeah, new ST adjustable front sway bar should be delivered today!
Client invited me to customer appreciation day track day at NHMS. Need suggestions on cheap mufflers to drop about 5db!
I was going to suggest Borla S-Types, however it seems that they have doubled in price since I purchased my pair in 2008. I single Borla XR-1 perhaps if you can run it as a resonator before the y-pipe or use it as an x-pipe?
Can't wait to see some videos! Great work. Hope it pays off.
A little progress made as I took a break from installing insulation in the garage.
ST Techniques sway bar and Mazdatrix endlinks installed. Need to make a few adjustments before locking things down.
Adding this just because I seem to collect RX7 things in this thread:

Took the RX7 to autocross yesterday. 10" slicks and cold rain don't make much for traction.
Finished fifth (fastest raw time in class but got pax'd to death) but nobody put on a show like I did. The front sway definitely helped balance the car a little more and I was holding BIG drifts around corners and even through the 3-cone slalom. Car feels a lot more like my Miata did, which is a very good thing. Still need to get an alignment.
Didn't win. Didn't care. Had the best time.
Where did you get the ST swaybar from? How much was it?
Thanks,
Rob R.
Bought it from Mazdatrix. It was around $179 bones I think
Decided to close the season with a bang, so we used my car for a team autocross event. 4 drivers, 1 car, 1:14 ish course with BIG acceleration zones and six runs each.
RotaryEnginesAren'tReliable. No wait, the car didn't miss a beat.
Since other people were driving it, I was able to shoot some videos. As you can see, the car is quite easy to slide around - hilariously so when on slicks in 45 degree weather. We all had a blast.
Front sway definitely evened out the handling, so I'm quite pleased. This car is REALLY easy to drive now and you can hang it out stupidly without risk of losing it.

Car is now in the garage for the winter so I can start tearing it apart for further work.
Right after I finish insulating the new garage.
Been insulating the house and the garage more so I haven't done much to the RX7 beyond drain the coolant system so it won't freeze.
That said, there are movements afoot for the 2014 season, not least of which is a brandy-new engine for MOAR POWER.
I'm also setting up some work tables in the basement so I can do some fiberglass work without having to heat up and maintain the garage. Plenty of room down there to do the job.
Very interested in your fiberglass work as my RX7 has bits and pieces that could really stand to not be steel.
