Finally getting close to having enough of the crap out of my garage to be able to bring home this wee almost roller.

The plan is beginning to look like a twin cam Suzuki install.
gsxr1300r motor/trans? Compact, super light weight, reliable, tons of power, revs to the moon, sequential 6speed tranny, relatively affordable, plentiful aftermarket and stock parts. just mount it longitudinally, and run a universal joint off of the countershaft sprocket (these are available for purchase) and run a custom driveshaft to the rear end from there. Easy swap/ epic result.
In reply to carbon: Hmmm - sounds like potential, but....how cheap can they be found? Swift engines are pretty cheap these days, ditto for sammy trannies.
Ummm - choke!!!!!

I'm thinking in the hundreds!
You could try R1 powertrains if they're any cheaper, a 'busa powertrain will need lubrication mods and a cush pack to have any longevity in a car while the R1's will work with no mods.
Bike power is easy to come by, busa motors are hot right now, (lots of swaps and people boosting them to death, so big demand) but any superbike driveline would be awesome. Keep in mind the weight too, how much does the swift/sami combo weigh compared to a bike driveline? If you like suzukis, a tl1000 motor would be cool too (torquey twin that turns to 11.5k)
Speaking of busa motors, this guy did it:
