Been busy over the past month or so:
Raced again up in Wisconsin, but took the Buddy 125 with me. Made it to the semi-finals, and also had a best for the bike time of 13.799 seconds. This was with the front rack, mirrors, and windshield stripped off, though.
Tore apart the boozer scooter, and trashed most of the bodywork.
Just yesterday, I took the spree that will be the basis of the GY6 build, and started to measure and disassemble it. Here's what it looked like this morning:
And here it is now:
No more time to work on it today, but I am going to try to get a little done during the week, and get all the major fab work done over Labor Day weekend. This will be a rush job, not as nice as I originally wanted, but I want it to debut at the September 20th race, so I have a little time to get it tuned for Twist and Gone at the end of the year.
At least this will be an easier build than the last. The Spree doesn't have a title, so there is no reason to make it street legal. No headlight, no turn signals, no keyed ignition, no merging two wiring harnesses. I still plan on putting a taillight on, just in case I run it at a night event. In a change from how I usually see things done, the stock tank will probably remain, and I will sit behind it. I think for now, the battery will go where the floorboard used to be. I'm aiming for about 120 pounds total weight, but am not going to worry about that too much on the first go around.
