I need this like a hole in the head.  I've got a race car that's been sitting on the lift for a year, hope to get it put back together this year, need to do a butt load of organizing out in the shop, I'll be on the road for at least 13 weekends working, I don't do body work, or interior work.  I can wrench, and not terrible at it.  I suck at wiring, but getting better.  My thoughts would be to get it, get rid of the terrible tail lights, remove the straight six, see if there is anything worth recouping from it and the transmission, I should have a spare R200 LSD from the 300ZX race cars, put that in, beef up the suspension/brakes, update to 5 lug for better wheel choice, drop in a modern drive train, preferably something that I can run A/C with, and go have some fun.  Something lightweight so that the handling is still good, powerful enough to make you giggle like a little school girl, a really good sound would be a major bonus, and dead nuts reliable enough that after it was in and running, it would be simple, like just changing the oil.  The Ecoboost 2.3 can be had inexpensively as a crate motor, throw the 6 speed behind it, and have some fun.  150 lbs. lighter than the LS1, and plenty of horsepower for that weight.  Or what else would be a good combo?  What would be the best way to do that with a wiring harness, everything from scratch, or buy one from a wrecked car and strip out the unnecessary bits?  Or is it too complicated to do with that modern of an engine?

Wild guess is there's a lot of rust under that fiberglass, it's a Z car so expect it.

Restored - needs paint and fuel pump  Those Webers have seen better days it you said you're pulling it.

Honestly, presumably that's a Datsun under there...   Unless you really really want to make it fast, I'd consider keeping the inline six. Perhaps if you want a bit more finding an L28det turbo model (280zx turbo engine).

The I6 can sound glorious and closer to right than a 4 or 8 cyl.

Cosmetic finishing is going to be most of that project.

Could be a handsome car with a bunch of elbow grease.

I vote L28ET build.

Or if you insist on modern, look for a wrecked G35 / 350Z for an engine and transmission donor

In reply to HoserRacing :

You've already posted it in Builds and Project Cars.  I think that means you have to do it.

I always loved that kit ,  but it's a ton of hours to get it decent,

If it was a few years ago and closer I would be tempted
