Very lucky craigslist find I was able to grab right at the end of March. I've been slowly going through it and tuning it up, learning about carbureted cars, this if my first. Everything on the car works even the AC. Bought it from the original owners son who had it for 30 years after his father passed in the 90s. I think it was sentimental until it wasn't. My plan is to manual swap it if I can find the parts. Then possibly go EFI.
Very nice! We had a toyota starlet and a toyota publica! I have been on the hunt for a Tercel 4wd wagon or a 91 Corolla Alltrac wagon! Though I wouldn't kick out a Cressida wagon out of bed. I want to replace our 7 passenger Camry V6 XLE wagon thats been sitting around for a while.

I love wagons, I don't care what make, wagons are just the coolest.
A classmate of mine in high school had one, but it had the flush, chrome bumpers that were common for the European market.

I have a 1983 corolla wagon that I may be parting out at least the transmission. (I will probably keep the pedal assembly)
Since I've had it the motor hasn't ran. So I don't know what condition the transmission is in. It will be a while before I can get to it but if you need one let me know.
This from when Toyota knew how to make an attractive exterior design. One of the best looking small cars ever, and the wagon is proper industrial design as well.
A small update. Not a lot of wrenching progress has been done. I've been collecting Manual Swap parts all year. I ended up with two 4 Speed transmissions that had been sitting in a local dismantler for years. Some of the parts I was able to find on Rock Auto, things like Slave Cylinder, clutch kits. The Hard to find stuff was probably a Flywheel and Clutch Pedal. I was able to source those Locally after being referred through a sort of Puerto Rican TE72 grapevine.
At this time I had pretty much everything I needed other than a drive shaft but figured I could just have my existing one modified. Last week on the Facebook 3TC group someone posted a $50 5 speed transmission with free 3tc engine, score. It was only an hour away from home so I quickly messaged the guy and arranged to pick it up. I don't have a Hoist so I had to do some logistics to go borrow my brothers hoist and bring it home before getting the engine and trans s I would be able to unload it from my Honda Element.
The seller of the Engine and Transmission turned out to be ClemSparks from this forum. Once we had the items loaded and I was about to be on my way we figured out that he still had the Drive shaft in his barn, so I was very excited to have all the major parts I needed for my swap. The Drive Shaft would of been worth the trip on it own. Thanks ClemSparks!
Currently I'm in progress of putting on some new front shocks. Oddly the drive side front is locked up in some way, haven't figured out how yet. After getting that sorted I plan on opening up the trans I have and seeing what I might be able to freshen up prior to installing.

Holy Flashbacks. my first car was the sedan version of that. Same year, same color. I loved that little hunk of junk. 1.8L 3TC and an auto that took a lot of abuse. We bought it from a drunk guy at a motel outside town with 239k miles on it in ...'92? '93?
Love this car! I have a weakness for Toyotas like this. When I was born my dad drove an '80 Celica, and my mom bought a brand new '87 Camry. Somehow I ended up being a Nissan guy. Still love these cars and their engines!

Neat, tidy little wagon. Love a 3TC car. They're tougher than old boots and run really nice with a stick. Better yet if you can get the factory tri-y exhaust manifold and matching down pipe.
Looks good. I have an 81 Wagon 5sp in beige. I first came across it in 1994 or so when a friend asked me to look at a car for her. I bought it from her around 2001 or so when she moved away. Good luck with yours.
