Clean the pan and pickup and fill it up and see what happens?

If its not too much effort, id do whats already been said and clean it up, reinstall it with some 50 weight, and roll the dice. If its nothing but a few hours, worth a shot.

With the pan off id at least roll the motor and look at the rod ends to see if you notice anything obvious.

I looked down the oil fill to se how the heads where. Hard to tell but looks like 1/4 inch cake of sludge.

I'm going to look at a couple of things in the morning but I have a 10 am appointment with Melinda for Team Stampie 2020 Challenge back up plan C.

That's impressively gross.

I have never run full budget and Melinda sounds much cuter than you.

Put the pan on.  Fill entire engine with kerosene.  Turn it over with the starter a few rotations and let it sit.  Do that a few times and then drain it.

Then run it

If you get thing running you should win by default.  Make sure you keep the sludge for your presentation to the judges.

Put it in a jello mold with a bit of frosting on top?

My gm3400 was like that when I took the pan off.  Ran some 5 w 30 through it for about 2 hours.  Drained it.  Put in red line 50wt.

Then proceeded to race the piss put of it for 3 years in Champcar.

No problem.

At least try it.

That sound you heard was probably upper end based on that "oil".

Put the sludge in a blender, puree it up, put it back in, send it. Should be able to do at least one full jump over 20 buses before it blows up.

Remind me to never let you work on one of my cars.  You can drive them anytime but no wrenches.

That's fair. I don't even trust myself to work on my own cars, even though I try halfheartedly to do it anyway. laugh

Is everyone that's saying "fill with fresh oil and run it" remembering that it makes rod knock sounds and there's copper in the sludge?

I met Melinda this morning. 2002 Honda Accord V6 Coupe. Cracked radiator but unfortunately they had removed the radiator and have been starting it up every month for the last two years. That ran most of the fluid out of the trans and what little remains smelled burnt to hell. With the history of these auto trans I passed.

Got home and thought about those that say berk the torpedoes! Full speed ahead!  So I decided to remove the timing chain inspection covers and see what condition it was in.

Chain is tight although in all fairness the sludge might be acting as the guides now.

With that said, good night InfinitZ.

In light of recent events Team Stampie is entering reorganation. We hope to soon emerge as the Self Immolating Cornholes.

So, guess I'll be the first to ask. What's the plans for the car after this? I'd be interested in the car as is, been looking for a rwd car to build into a fun car.

It's on the back burner at this point.  Patrick and I were dream building it with a Nissan V8 earlier but I'm open.  Especially open to opening more space in my driveway.

Did you have a low-buck 454 there at your encampment that was once mentioned as a possible power plant for this car?
