In one way that’s very cool. I haven’t seen one in at least 15 years!

But in another way, that’s kinda sad

That's a very good description of Gumby.

I've been researching and planing.  The 460 might be totally outside of my build budget.  If so it'll be real cheap.  PM or text me.

Dang, I was hoping you were going to keep the 460 and offload the 351. I could fit a 351 in my Cougar. 460 would be a lot tougher, lol.

That seems to be the tell that I decided to keep the right engine.  You aren't the first one to offer to take the 351 off my hands.  I'll make you a deal on the 460 also and I'll throw in some sawzall blades to help it fit.

If I was going to put the 460 in a car, I can't decide if it would be the Town Car or the Escort. Town Car would be a hilarious big-block drag racing couch. Escort would be a dual-engined 4WD abomination, like that 80s Escort with the two engines that did the Challenge several years ago.

Let's do a budget update.  I'm pretty sure I can zero out the Model A and the engine.  I'm adding in projected recoup to keep the budget total more accurate for the finished project.

Known:

Model A                $750

Seat                        $40

Rear suspension $151.46

15 inch wheels         $0

351W engine         $200

Total known          $1141.46

Projected

Front suspension                  $100

Trans/Flywheel/Clutch        $100

Autocross tires                    $Budget exempt

Total Projected                     $200

Recoup projected

Model A                                $750

351W engine                        $200

Project total                        $391.46

So are you putting a 2.3T Saab engine and T5 into something else then?

I really want to but I'm not buying another vehicle just to do that.  If the 351W sucks then maybe come back to the Saab but pretty sure I've figured out 350hp combo in half budget.

Damn it now you got me wanting to buy the Isuzu T5 just to have for future use.  You're an evil man.

I strive to be evil.

1928 Model A

Did a therapy session in the junkyard today. Figure I needed two switches for lights and ignition.  They hit me up for 38 cents.

We fixed the engine hoist and got the 351W unloaded and up on the stand. I had to remove the valve cover just to see. Looks like the Automotive gods decided the 350z was punishment enough as it's real clean.

You have no idea the extent of the damage that engine had.  Thanks to jonathan I scored a running engine for 200

Oh tell us. I learned a long time ago to listen to the little voice in my head that says your about to go down a rabbit hole and get berked.

This afternoon I decided I wanted to see how the wheels fit the Infiniti Q45 rear. Actually pretty good.  About 10mm of space around the caliper.

The planned RX8 front brakes are only 10mm bigger in diameter so theory says they'll fit it also. I think I'll need longer studs in the rear and the Mazda are different threads so kinda want to convert them to the same. Is there some lug stud catalog I can look up by dimensions so I can figure out the conversation?

If that spins decent I'd do a compression check, change the oil and send it.

It spins nicely by hand on the flywheel. You can feel the compression strokes. I want to do some little things like try and measure the cam specs. Think I can get close measuring at the rockers.

When are you going to start building this thing? I need more pre-war project content on this forum. Don't make me come down there again.

Happy to see this coming together.  As far as cam specs go, a little Google Fu turned up some results.  Kinda need to know what vintage engine it is.  The 351 is a fairly stout engine.  My son had a warmed up version in his Mustang, and it ran very well.
