I wouldn't hold your breath...Stampie might be only GRM'er slower at building Challenge cars than AC!

Even I laughed.

Today I kidnapped Lil Stampie and his friend to help move the rear subframe to the build area. At least I feed them good pizza first.

The other day I ground off the last bolt holding the old battery tray onto the frame.

I spent some time this week figuring out the front subframe mounting. I think I have it figured out. One of the reasons we brought out the rear subframe is so I can do the same with it.

We've decided that Tuesday evenings are our main work day.  We'll still do homework during the rest of the week to catch up.  Today we had an all hands meeting, Lil Stampie and I discussed how to go forward.  I saw two ways.  One mock it up, disassemble it, address all the little things, then put it back together.  Second plan was work on each subassembly at a time and put them all together done.  It was decided to go with mock up then rebuild it.  That meant we needed a frame table so cue the montage of Lil Stampie welding.

And the final product for the day.

We still need more cross members and we need the wheel landing pads.  We ran out so I'll hit up Alro this week and get more.  What you see is 2x1 tubing that I've had around for a long time.   The bottom rail is flipped to give us a 3 inch ride height and we'll set the Model A frame directly on the top vertical rails.

I hit up Alro. They were out of 2x1 but I got 2x2 a little cheaper anyway. I grabbed some remnant round tubing to make crush sleeves. That'll be the only thing that I need the receipt for at $1.15 a pound. Damn steel has gone up.

Sweet to see you guys have a dedicated work night scheduled every week.  Monday garage nights sure helped Team Barely Functional Racing™  get the P1800 to the Challenge.

Also, I LOVE seeing 'Burbans doing Truck stuff 👍

Yeah I rednecked it and cut the pieces with my sawzall so they'd fit.  Wasn't gonna pay them $5 a cut for that.

That's the most Florida and grm thing I've heard in a long time.

"I couldn't find the rear subframe"

You gotta break out the brush hog as part of the build process! Love that E36 M3! Hate your ecosystem. I thought nc sucked....

This reminds me I need to move my spare subframes and the 2J core motor in the next couple weeks before nature reclaims it otherwise I will definitely need the brush hog.

It's funny, I've been largely absent since '21, and it seems like you're also picking up where I left off.

Yeah, Stampie has mostly just focused on buying up everything in sight since you went inactive.

Stampie, you're up to what? 16 cars now?

It just wasn't the same without you.

In reply to Indy - Guy :

I just counted and I'm at 16 plus two bodies and a broken up frame that doesn't have a home.  That's not including Lil Stampie cars.  It does include two parts cars.
