Ive always had smallish cars, but i cant seem to the idea of having something to tool around here in Central West Virginia off road. the thought of one of the 4-door sedans, with a 4.0 HO Fuel Injected engine and 31x10.50's seems like a decently fun winter/offroad beater. Am I on a good idea, or being foolish?
Yes. Ive taken a coupe off road. It was great. Off to craigslist....

Are there any issues with moving to a 4.0 block if you want to retain the engine-mounted front diff? I don't know if this a bolt-together combination without some fab work or not. Might be worth looking into.
Hope they hold up better in Central West Virginia than they did in SW Pa. Non-existent here now except for some garage kept granny-go-to-church-mobile. Long gone in the yards too.
Loved my '87 wagon, I'd own another one if I could locate a nice example.
Watch the ball joints and t-case shift fork. Emission stuff is one of the first things to rot but there's ways around that. I had the trans fluid and filter changed out around 100K miles, that's prolly what killed the trans. Scrapped it after that.
If ya find a good one go for it!
There ya go WVa
