When I got home yesterday I spent some time studying the clutch. The pedal wasn't returning all the way to the top. I pulled it up and the clutch is now working properly.

At a guess, the wife was riding it instead of taking her foot off the pedal. The sticking may also be the master or slave puking.

I drove it to work this morning and it performed flawlessly so I'm going to flush the system and let it ride for now and see what happens.

I'm also going to add a separate reservoir to the clutch master to separate the system from the brakes. Pulling both off one reservoir seems like a stupid idea for a track rat. It will also allow me to flush the brake system without taking the chance of introducing air to the clutch system. Those parts are on the way.

did you remove the reservoir cap at any point during your troubleshooting?  there's a vent in the cap which allows the bellows to expand as fluid level in reservoir drops due to brake pad wear. sometimes they don't vent properly and it will create a low-level vacuum in the reservoir that makes things act weird.  i've seen it manifest as long brake pedal travel, but in a system where the reservoir feeds brakes and clutch i wonder if it could cause the clutch to act wonky.
