While that is true, it also speaks to people in different parts of the country. Up here especially right now during tax season you're seeing hunks of literal E36 M3 going for 1k and up. It's insane seeing a 1k car on CL and clicking the ad to find it doesn't run

Was just discussing performance potential of these with someone at an autocross last weekend. Curious to know if I am right in thinking they are very underrated. Good handling, but a bit heavy and with an engine thats OK, but with little mod potential.

Not to rain on any parades, and Im not saying that in any way this is typical or all encompassing (actually, Im really hoping that this thread may prove it wrong), but (IIRC) Sport Compact Car had a 2nd gen probe GT project car, and they were able to make it turn, but making it fast was a big challenge. I couldnt understand how that could be possible with the powerplant under that hood, so Im guessing they were not on their game with that one.

Regardless, with a entry fee of zero, any upgrade becomes reasonable.

There is no rain in this parade. The amount of money in that car is simply insane. Ksports alone are what, 800? that trunk box of goodies is probably close to it.

Years ago, there was a guy named Dan on the probetalk forum, running 10's in his higher compression KLZE. Not the exact same motor, but with some money any motor can move.

A KLZE could be a possibility in the future. Once I get a chance to play with it more I will decide if I want to go down that road.

Is that the car? All the earlier pics are photobrokeits. 

I like these cars and am shocked at how rare they've become. I consider them 90% as cool as 2g DSMs and probably more reliable and yet while you still see 2g DSMs in all variety, i rarely see a 2g Probe in ANY condition at all. 

Needs a $2017 Challenge number pannel on the side to look right.
