Here are a few shots of my current project. It's a 2005 Subaru Legacy GT Limited Wagon that coughed up it's engine at 116k miles. I just picked it up from the original owner, 45 minutes after it was posted on Craigslist.. It's got leather interior, sunroof, automatic transmission and new Yokohamas. This was a $30k+ car a mere seven years ago.
The engine was removed by a Subaru dealership, so dropping in a replacement should be fairly straightforward.
I haven't really decided what direction I'm going to take with this one. I was looking for a project, so when I saw this I moved quickly, but it's not a car that I'd really need when it's done. I just hauled it home and haven't even taken a good look at everything yet. I still need to clean it up and get a good assessment of the whole situation.

I need to address this little issue...

I assume you mean you need to do something about that stupid S pattern shifter and the lack of a sufficient quantity of pedals.
either way though, youre my hero
In reply to Woody:
I have this burning need to build one to full Spec.B badassery.
Looking forward to your project

I see that you already have a donor car...
I've been starting to see a supply of H6 EZ30's in the U-Pull yards around here...
Got a ej255 core.
With mine I did a basically stock ej255 with a custom vf48 mated to the stock intercooler. That auto is fairly tolerable as that is what I have.

Actually, I wouldn't mind the automatic in a car like this. My nephew bought a 2005 WRX automatic (I had a 2004 WRX 5 speed at the time) and I was surprised at how well the turbo worked with the automatic.
the 5EAT in the Legacy GT is a MUCH better auto than what came in the WRX.
Just a FYI: I would totally DD a stick shift turbocharged version of that.............and I do like buying cars from you.

Just an FYI: I could be totally talked out of this thing.
You have my number and the guy with the trailer already knows how to get to my house.
And yours.
What do you want for it, as is?
These are cool. My friend just blew a similar one up.
I was gonna suggest the whole pull the oil screen off the turbo oil return line thing, but it looks like you don't have that issue.
I still want one with a STI drivetrain.

That is a good question.
I need to spend some time with the car and put a little more thought into it. I've always really liked these cars.

Or, you could build an all wheel drive electric wagon...
There's one in the North West with a Grand National drivetrain.
In reply to DaveEstey:
There is one in Montreal too.

Whoa.... WHAT???
That sounds kinda cool yet kinda backwards at the same time. Interesting.

Awesome, I'll have to read up on that later. I've seen LSX-swapped WRX's, but never a GN motor in a Legacy.
Side note: LS motors tend to melt Subaru R160 rear differentials.
Fairly certain it retains awd, where the ls swaps I've seen go to rear drive only.....which isn't fair to a R160 diff.

It retains AWD? That is really cool. I must read that build thread.
This thing is going to be sold before it's even unloaded from the trailer...
