GVWR is 33k pounds. GCRW is 43k pounds.

I tried to stop at a CAT scale this weekend but it was pretty backed up.

One of the things that has been worrying me about buying this thing was the access to the farm in NC. The driveway leading down into the property is less than wide and surprisingly steep. This is the driveway.

20230204_121757.jpg

The break over at the top was worrying. At 260+" of wheelbase and 18" of ground clearance, I wasn't sure the beast wouldn't bottom out. I did some fairly careful measuring and was reasonably certain I would have about 2" of clearance. I was also concerned about bottoming out the nose and tail at the break onto the bridge. I had brought a stack of 2x10 boards just in case I needed to build ramps for additional clearance.

The last concern was getting lined up on the bridge since the drive and bridge aren't aligned. The bridge is 12' wide, but I didn't want to be outside the track boards because the I-beams are under the tracks but not outside of them. I didn't think the 3" deck boards would support the weight.

Access was tested this past weekend. After some careful maneuvering, it ended up being a little anti-climactic. I had 1.5" of belly clearance and the nose and tail never got closer than 1" to the ground. A miss is as good as a mile.

Getting back out may be a bit of a trick. Dad dumped a bunch of rock on the drive and his truck and trailer won't climb onto the road without spinning the wheels unless he has a running start. I guess we will find out the day after Memorial Day.

Lets compare it to my house:

Nicer inside? Yes.

Bigger inside? Yes

More women inside? Yes

Good job man, I really like it.

This one is pretty well built and nicer than my house as well. I've looked at some that were complete crap though. There are a few brands that stand above the rest.

The PO also did a very good job at taking care of this rig. It has 79k on it so they actually used it instead of letting it sit in the yard and rot.

The EndOver made the trip out of the mountains yesterday with zero issues. The average fuel economy was 7.6 mpg. Not great, but better than the 460 in the Blunder Bus. The amount of power the engine in this thing makes is amazing. At 65 mph it's loping along at 1500 rpms.

I was a little worried about climbing the driveway back out of the property but it did that with aplomb as well. The traction control light only flickered a couple of times. Here's a really terrible-quality video of that.

The only issues the entire trip were a slide seal that doesn't want to stay where it belongs and a flaky control on the electric flush toilet. I will work on them this week.

Sunday I dug through the box of paperwork that came with the beast and tried to make sense of it. It was a disorganized disaster.

Step one was to dig it all out of the box and see what was there. The PO apparently stuck every piece of paperwork in that box. Even if it didn't pertain to the RV. 25% of the mess ended up in the trash.

It is now organized, filed properly, and in an order where I can probably find it when I need it. Probably most important was the build sheet with model numbers and serial numbers for every piece of equipment installed, including front and rear axles, engine, transmission, brakes, air pumps, and appliances. Now that I have it all together, I hopefully will never need it.

An update.

The beast is taking up a fair amount of the backyard and I had to move it to get a trailer out. I had unplugged it and had the generator running. The generator runs out of fuel at around 1/4 tank on the main tank. When I retracted the jacks, the MH was just out of level enough to run the generator out of fuel. Running a diesel out of fuel is a bit of a pain in the ass. That necessitated pulling the cover off the generator to bleed the fuel system. While I was in there, I found the radiator overflow bottle to be cracked.

So I jumped online to order one only to find out that Onan/Cummins has discontinued it. Since Onan, in their infinite wisdom, also ran the oil dipstick through the overflow bottle, finding something close wasn't going to work either. A little engineering and it now has an external overflow bottle that I had left over from the Shamrock repower. I wish I had taken a picture of the engine while the cover was off. It's a 3-cylinder Kubota diesel that can't be more than 11" long and displaces .719L.

I didn't really want to run the gen out of fuel again so before I bled the system, I ran up to the local truck stop to fill up the tank. It took right at 70 gallons to top it off. While I was there, I ran it across the Cat Scales.

Front axle, 11280 pounds.

Rear axle, 19880 pounds.

Grand total, 31160.

That's with full fuel, no water, and the black and gray tanks empty. Everything else is stocked except for clothes.

My tent was next to this rig all weekend. That slideout is MASSIVE. I was very jealous of your rig during the rain storm on Sunday morning. Also very nice camping by someone with a quiet generator. Love that it has E39 headlights too

It is. I'm dreading the first time I have a problem with it. Hopefully I never do.

The genset got a workout this weekend. I'm glad it wasn't annoying to the neighbors. I shut it down at night and ran off of the batteries to keep from waking people up.

Now if only we could get a lemons car to run as good...
