Doubt that a shock mount would hold that way. Nut and washer on the bottom, maybe?

Correct, there is a plate with a nut welded onto it on the bottom.

This is where build trip #1 ended:
The guys are headed back to Wayne's shop in Alabama this afternoon and will finish the car this trip hopefully. I am leaving for Monterey for a week, so Tom will be handling daily updates for you guys until I return.
No update is complete without a photo to caption. Lets pick on the video guy this time:
We're back up at Very Cool Parts to finish the 818!
Lining up the nose piece.
Time for some body panels!
Cutting the door openings.

Somebody is making a run to harbor freight for a air riveter. Right!

I'm guessing for strength while shipping and before your ready to fit it. With that chunk removed it's going to be quite weak and breakable until fitted. You'd hate to damage it before your ready to use/install it.

Dude seems to hace a rather casual grip on the body part remover, especially since it is running without a guard!
While I operate in the same danger zone, I tend to have a death grip on what my friends affectionately call "Killer"
In reply to Giant Purple Snorklewacker:
+eleventy-billion. flat bills are whack. I want to punchify "kids" who do that.
Much like the saggy pants, the real reason why the bills are left flat is not known to the copy-cats. (allows people to return them to the store, so they look like they have money because they are always changing hats, but in reality they are only "renting" them, which is just berkeleying gross)
