So much win in this thread.
After a little wheeling and dealing, finagling and leveraging I am currently the proud owner of a 1991 Chevrolet Corvette L98 long block with a mild cam, Performer intake, Edelbrock carb and a lot of fun little bits. My garage sale has been humming along, the Firebottle system is a bust because it's a 2006 and can't be recertified but the rest of the items I've got I'm wheeling and dealing.
In reply to GTXVette:
Yes yes oh gawd yes!
Decisions decisions... Holley vs Edelbrock, cage reduction, add moar lightness, add moar rubber clean clean clean, paint paint paint, polish polish polish terd terd terd!
In reply to Dusterbd13:
This is a Challenge build. The Firebottle was last certified in 2006 and shows a full charge although I don't see getting past Firebottles own rules about recertification. It's for sale with remote trigger, bracket and two channel tubing it anyone is interested, I'll hang a PASS bottle in it and feel safe.
What's the over/under on QM bringing a camaro to the challenge this year? I feel like this is a rerun... ;-)
All Good but for the Eddy Carb.and kinda the intake, Holly carb Hands down the Intake can become more Spicific to use, Lower RPM always a dual plane If you are keeping the R's up and to 7 thou you can go with single plane, what is the intended trans as an auto Like's dual and a Manual you change gear's to keep RPM up.
QuasiMofo wrote: Next up is does anyone know the approximate spring rates of a good handling F body? Gearheadotaku I'm looking at you. I have the Moog number for the rear, anything special up front? Specific shocks? The OE ones appear sound but there is ZERO weight besides cage on it. The 275s appear to fit but I'm certain that will change with load.
I used Moog 5662 in the front (750lb in) and left the rear stock, around 100lbs. Yes the rear is very soft for better axle travel, but I use the biggest rear bar so its all a big contraversy. I've heard of 1000lbs springs up front, but now you're gettin into custom Bilsteins to control them. I've got Sachs super Touring struts with fresh (in '14) stock sloted upper mounts and bump stops. Had to grind some material off the lower strut body as it was binding on the body of the car at -1.5 degreee camber. rear shocks are KYB monotubes.

[giggle] [whoa!]
There's always a chance I don't make it, but at this point the only reason would be unexpected.
Officially I've entered three of the last five, made one of them, so it will take a string of showing up before people accept it

Multiple rerun
But I've been slightly more reliable. The issue I've had this year was more budget creep issue. The green car was quickly becoming a $20017 build because it was too nice to booger up. The orange car needed more than I could do to make top 15. This car has spares and recoup capabilities (currently at $1000 sold off and could go deeper. I've put a $600 engine and a $200 seat in to and have traded for a newer seat harness and I'm hoping to trade for a proper set of wider Autocross wheels. Engine gets dropped off at 3:30 today so the tear out of the 305 starts soon.
In reply to Gearheadotaku:
Looks like Konis all around, unknown springs, big bars, adjustable strut mounts, strut brace, Strano rear bits, plus Holley Blue pump and 7psi regulator, the allowable CMC2 headers, dual 2.5" exhaust, I'll likely run the Holley carb, and work out the rest as the summer comes.

Quasi, I'm soooo confused....are you building a Camara or c4? Inquiring minds want to know. LOL
Oh yea (didn't think about this last nite),You can NOT have too many Bars for saftey and the Minute amount of weight you could save you will make up for in Feeling SAFE.

It's not being cut unless it's absolutely necessary.
That's some good parts there, easy to make 425 -450 Horse with those heads 12 to 1 and the right cam you can be there. I like compression can you tell.
