Yes. I snapped that picture at the seller's house while he was signing the title. The blue car is his daily. He sold me his "parts car." & Yes, that's Indy-wife in the black car aka "the Tribble"

No. The cat is going on eBay to recoup most of the cost of the Red Shirt. California is a large consumer of OEM Cats because their state law requires that only OEM goes back on the car. The Tribble received an Amazon cheapy replacement that was less than $100 to purchase and is functioning just fine.
I must admit a small bit of remorse busting this one up, because I drove it home from the seller, and actually drove it (under it's own power) to this parking spot: It's final resting place.

Indy which aftermarket cat did you go with? Picked up an '06 to go along with the '05 we already have for parts but thinking I may just get it back on the road. Previous owner took off the cat when they gave up on the hybrid battery,

if you can keep an eye out for the plastic housing for the center screen on the dash, I'd sure appreciate it! Mine broke and my fix worked but has stressed the plastic and it is cracking in a different spot.

Unrelated to Prii, but related to the sentiment above: I seem to be rolling through E46's in a similar manner (down to 3, peak was 5) and when the two that I'd picked as clean as wanted went to the scrapyard I cringed both times. There weren't parts I wanted left on the chassis, but surely there were parts someone wanted that were just getting totally wasted.
Most recent I sent to the crusher was 3 weeks ago and sans engine, rear subframe, fuel tank and a few other odds and ends, a convertible 330i shell fetched ~$150.
