I don't understand this... I've parked outside for years, and not a single tire was ever thrown away because of UV damage.

Maybe because the RV isn't driven as much the tread lasts much longer and you don't want them dryrotting before they are used up?

That is the reason but, I have been in the Army for about 16 years and most of that time working with big trucks. Our vehicals did not get moved much at all and I have never had to toss a tire from dry rotting.

It is also that the RV folks tend to shine their tires with that crap that helps the UV process along.

I used to have a set of boat trailer tires that would prove this wrong - tread was like new - the sidewalls were toast.

My tires have cracks, I am getting them checked by a local tire company tomorrow.

Added fluid to the power steering today and promptly blew a hose wide open, took it in to Aeroquip to have them build a new one for me.

Added some oil, started cleaning, tightened a bolt or two.

Messy steering linkage

the maintanence trail gets deep pretty fast with something like that. A friend has a custom RV/Car hauler on a truck chassis, with a larger engine then the truck chassis originally had... well, he has had some VERY interesting maintanence issues, that the local truck repair shop has yet to exactly figure out......

Sorted power steering out, the line did the trick, took it for a run and could smell coolant, opened the heater and the rad is leaking badly, now pulling that to be repaired.

Nothing big but the usual crap for a vehicle that sat around a lot.

Good news is I have a set of tires on order for $250 a piece, yeah I know but that is about 50% off retail

OK time for a brief update.

I have a dead battery, dammit, one still ok and one is shot, will get a replacement this weekend.

I picked up two solar battery tenders to assist the batteries stay in good shape.

Heater core is updated and replaced.

Got a set of tire covers.

Got a replacement roof vent for one that was broken.

Seeking some gauges to update the ancient and lacking factory set.

For added fun, pull reference line for more boosts. Those ol' diesels don't care

most (though not all) 8-71's are non-turbo. They were rated between 260 and 318 HP depending on injector size. Torques are in the 800 range. Turbo'd they were rated 350 HP and 1000 torques IIRC

It lives, but I am working on getting the Mustang suspension sorted, the Ranchero running and shifting reliably, the RX7 rear suspension sorted, the S10 mods and the CMC Camaro back together. Oh and fix our house that has problems.

Probably no real work until Spring now, but it should make the MItty as mentioned.

Mongo is in at a welding shop having a custom hitch made for it, went to a guy who knows his stuff about hitches because a bus has no mounting point like a framed car/truck does. At least my frame is steel and stainless not one of the aluminum ones. This guy also has experience with rollcages.

Had to buy the second battery, another $200, as that also failed over Winter, but I have two good ones now.

In less than two weeks it makes its maiden voyage to Sebring with a bunch of GRMers. It will bring back a Supra and other parts collected around Atlanta on the return run.

MPG will be ..... should I say GPM?
