272 alternator, ps pump, and a/c compressor. I bought a new water pump, the 272 one will fit but it's stamped with v6 so I didn't want to mess with that. 

I kept the 273 throttle body, the 272 one has a different part number so I didn't want to mess with it.

The a/c compressor and ps pump might be identical I'm not sure, the V8 didn't come with any accessories. The alternator is for sure different, the battery cable terminals are different between the V6 and V8 cables.

As far as the cooling system goes this was the area I was most concerned with:

The two other M273/W204 swaps I have seen said they had custom thermostat outlets made due to the space constraints. I elected to try using the water outlet and hoses from the C207 E550 coupe and it looks like it's going to work out just fine.

It's coming together though, going to try to get the transmission bolted back in then first start this evening.

Eh it depends. On Saturday it took me 5 hours to pull the engine and transmission out. Between Sunday-Today I have maybe 4 hours put in.

Transmission is in 

VIN wrote to ECU 

ECU personalized 

ECU activated

No crank, no start. 

 

The EIS isn't accepting the ECU. The only thing I can find from someone with the same issue is they needed a new ECU so I ordered a ECU+EIS+Key set and I'll try it that way next.

Yep did the teach in procedure with the ECU and it all looks fine but it just isn't accepting my key. I'm guessing the company that did the renewal didn't do it right.

New ECU that I got virginized by a local locksmith. The EIS/key that came with the ECU was too new and wouldn't plug in to my car.

Sorry I forgot to email you back about that. There is a coding string for electronic ignition but it didn't seem to do anything when I set it to disabled. 

 

It runs like ass but I haven't updated the variant coding in this new ECU so that might be why. I went to hook my laptop up to it when the locksmith was done but windows decided to leave the building. 

Will update the post tomorrow with the final parts used and all that.

Now that it's in and running here's the breakdown

Parts used:

M273 5.5l V8 from an 07-09 CLS550

Bought new M273 water pump, belt tensioner, and idler pulleys

Bought thermostat/housing and radiator hoses for W212/C207 E550

Used original GLK radiator and fan but I will need an E550 or 13-14 GLK radiator for a proper overflow connection down the road

Used M272 alternator, a/c compressor, ps pump though the alternator and a/c compressor are different they appear to be working fine

The power steering and a/c lines are different but since the M272 sits further back in the bay there was enough slack that they moved forward with the M273 just fine.

New LUK clutch/flywheel set bolted up just fine

The ECU was part number A2739000700 from a 2010 E550. The locksmith that virginized and programmed it used Abrites 

Coding the ECU for the manual was the same as the M272, just changed getriebe from NAG2 to NSG. I coded the ESP/ABS module to M273 as well but I'm not sure if that was needed. The central gateway recognizes that the engine ECU is for a v8. 

 

All that's left is to change the rear badge from GLK 350 to GLK 550

Keep us posted on how it runs after the variant coding. I love the fact that you did this essentially to see if it would work. I love the body style and never would expect to see a manual V8.

The only thing more impressive than the fact that you have a V8 GLK with a third pedal is the fact that you were able to do it so damned fast!

Yep dimensionally it is just 2 more cylinders added to the front. From the engine mounts to the firewall the distance is exactly the same as the v6. 

I am using the GLK exhaust bolted to the CLS manifolds. No issues there.

Mercedes stuff are like legos if you're not afraid of trial and error. Most Mercedes owners aren't tinkerers or DIY types thats why the forums can be pretty useless with modern stuff.
