Alright, let's get caught up here...

Rebuilt some HLAs.

Griffin Radiator FTW.

Stripped tensioner bolt holes.

Here you can kindof see how far the timing belt tensioner bolt holes had to be opened up before a tap would take.

Annnddd... the hole that i drilled through the water jacket. Oops.

Porcupine motor!

Porcupine motor with head gaskets.

Oh look, heads!

Cams removed for torquing ARP head studs.

Detail shot of the beautiful heads Schmidt Automotive did for me.

Torquing studs.

BAM.

Issues/things encountered in no particular order:

1) Have misplaced rear trans mount bracket somehow.
2) Broke off bolt into front trans mount bracket. 3 will be good enough.
3) Seem to have misplaced a shoulder nut thing that holds on the other idler pulley. Oops.
4) The factory throttle cable will require NO MODIFICATION. All i need to do is make a bracket to hang off the rear valve cover for the pivot. Length and routing is already perfect.
5) There will be pretty much nothing in the driver's side of the bay.
6) TONS of space. Installing the fuel stuff will be EASY.
7) Upper radiator outlet will be interesting to deal with...

Anyone have input on how to do the radiator hoses?

Did some more things. Full disclosure: The motor was not completely assembled last time it was in the car. It's back out, and we did things.

My buddy Chris helping me out with the head. These things are a PAIN to put together, and we didn't want to snap my extremely rare cams.

I made Chili.

I played with a Sawzall.

Made a troll-mobile.

Got an oil filter thing.

Fixed my gauge cluster. Are you proud?

Got sick of Rockauto sending me the wrong brake master cylinder. Fixed it.

I has a motor.

Realized i should probably start selling these.

Hung out with my cat.

Carved a pumpkin.

Drank some beer.

Got some lines. (-6, -8, and -10)

Got a backup plan.

Found a base 323 in the junkyard that i took a whole bunch of interior things out of. Some hybrid stuff is happening in the Escort. Thinking about doing a full dash swap.

FINALLY finished the steering column bullE36 M3. What a terrible job to do by yourself, and not enough space for a helper.

Terrible picture of current state of engine bay. Removed a few more things. Probably going to shave off a bunch of those studs.

Paid Ludwig Motorsports for the Haltech stuffs, coils, Racepak IQ3, install, and the sensors and such i needed on Friday. That hurt, but should be worth it. :)

Did some more things. Forgot to take pictures of the things i needed to take pictures of because i fail.

Although... i was just informed that the only electrical things i need to worry about is lights and starter. Tuner/Haltech dealer says nothing else will stop him from getting the car running. :) (James, i'm still going to get the pictures, i'm still interested in the schematics. It'll be Friday, gotta hit the junkyards tomorrow.)

Cleaned up the baffles.

Don't need the front one since that hole is plugged. :)

Shaved off the spark plug holder tabs since they interfered with the ITBs.

Test fitted the 323 stuff. Not sure how i feel about it. Doesn't fit perfectly, but i LOVE the shifter console. The center stuff isn't fitting the way i want. :(

Hey what size is my factory fuel feed line? I gotta find the adapter i need before i place my order.

I'm also feeling ADD today...

What offset to clear suspension with a 15x9 wheel? Need to start budgeting for two sets of wheels. One for race, one for street. I don't really like the RPF1 knockoffs i don't think. Wanting to run a 15x9 wrapped in a 225/45-15 for street/local unlimited street tire class use.

Also: Bought a battery box and some cable.

Fuel pump stuff. Haven't put the new pump back in yet, i have to pump out the tank. (Unless there's a drain on it. Anyone know?) The stuff that's in there isn't gas anymore.

Bro, it's a Walbro.

ITB stuff, don't know what it is. Helper spring for throttle return?

Battery cutoff switch setup.

My Haltech/Racepak/AEM stuff is in a box in the Jeep right now. ;) Pics later.

Doin' work!

Shift linkage is done and HOLY CRAP THIS THING FEELS berkeleyING AWESOME. PaceE36 M3tter STS adjusted all the way short + GarageStar 2.5" extension + Bronzoil bushings front to back + Energy Suspension stabilizer bar bushing = HELL YEAH

It makes VERY satisfying noises, too! :D

Started mounting fuel things and you can see the catch can poking into the picture, was experimenting on placement. Where you see it is where it's going to go.

That's pretty much up to date now. I ordered everything to finish the car last night (famous last words) except for the -6AN fittings i need and fluids. (Got brake fluid.)

From there i just have to have the ITBs repaired, bracket welded on catch can, exhaust welded up, swap the rear struts left/right (which should fix my brake line woes), slap the rest of the crap in the bay, install battery.

And then decide if i want to do a string alignment or just pay a shop to set this thing up.

2-3 days worth of work left. This will be tuned and running by the end of the year!

Center compenstating linkage for joining them together on an inline setup. I have one on my set of dual DCOE ITB's.

It's certainly tested my motivation. This build has thoroughly sucked in every imaginable way. It's made me not at all excited to get back to the Celica.

Ah ok, cool!

I had actually contacted the person i bought the setup from about that, and he said he had removed it from the setup when HE bought it, since he ended up re-working the linkages to make them actually work right.

These are off of "The KLiata" and the original builder laid the basis, but there were some pretty bad binding/drivability issues.

I sawzalled both cars. Pics of the donor MX3 are back earlier in this thread, but probably most of the sawzalling was on the Escort itself, actually.

I don't think i took the greatest pictures illustrating... but i had this thing down to literally a chassis with a dash and glass. Most of the suspension had to come out with the sawzall. What you're seeing now is what came of rebuilding everything 100% from scratch.

Judging by the surroundings, this isn't taking place that far from my house. You should hit me up so I can come hang out for a bit.

It's up in Noblesville right now, but i normally work in Lawrence/Oaklandon at my garage, yes.

I believe i still have your phone number. I'm going to be starting the sacrifice of an 88 MX6 GT this weekend if you're down for some beer and fun.
