Yep same thing.
ScottyB wrote: how am i just now finding this build? this sets my loins afire. i can't stop looking a those velocity stacks. so shiny and...stacky! mmmm!
I'm just glad i wasn't the one that had to pay for those damn things.
Just about done, actually.
Power has been ran to starter, alternator, and main on fuse box. Motor and trans grounds have been made, new battery and box have been installed.
Will test to make sure all accessories work next.
All that's left:
1) Adjust rear brake calipers/e-brakes
2) Flush cheap hydraulic fluid out, replace with Motul 600.
3) Double check all suspension hardware to be sure it's all tightened.
4) Fill trans
5) Button up interior
6) Test accessories/cut out extra wires.
7) Wheels and tires
Will be dropping off car to have the exhaust welded up on Friday, then it's out of my hands from there.
Second hole in floor/2awg power wire ran.
Power to main fuse box.
Starter power wire in the making.
New here!!!
What does the "KL" stand for?
I've got a 91 EGT I will be racing on a 3/8 mile oval/figure 8.
Looking for all engine info I can find

The KL is the 2.5 litre V6 that was put in the second generation Mazda MX6/Ford Probe.
If it's a legal swap for your purposes, it can be a pretty simple affair, especially with an MX3 GS donor car.
What would probably be easier would be to refresh the motor that's in your car and look at putting later Miata 10:1 pistons in it, some breathing modifications, maybe a later Miata head, and Megasquirt.
Didn't put calipers on my from sway bar last night. Was too busy figuring out other things.
Like: Why the berkeleying berkeley don't my fog lights work?!?!?!?!
And: Lesson learned. Adjusting the rear calipers is EASY. As long as, you know... you haven't replaced the e-brake cables with ill-fitting aftermarket replacements at the same time. 3 hours later, the brakes work correctly.
Anyways..... yeah. I got sick of ****ing around and decided it was time to get to business. I've been up since 5am yesterday. Went to work, went to work on car, finished working on car at 7:08am this morning, went home, showered, and went to work. I'm tired.
Made Cromoly spacers for the endlinks to keep the bearing from binding. Worked out well.
Ran wires for Racepak.
Got power. LOTS OF POWER. (But no fogs. Or wipers, actually.) Starter cranks FAST.
So i heard you liked low cars?
The Star Specs are BEEFY.
This is a normal office chair adjusted all the way DOWN.
Curious about your ground wiring inre: the rear mounted batt box. Did you run cable to the front or ground at the back and ground again up front and leave the long heavy wire out?
No matter which way, sounds like things are going well! I wish I had your motivation, and what I assume is a heated shop.

I only grounded from the battery at the back, then grounded the trans and motor to the chassis up front.
I'm not sure if it's motivation or just getting so sick of working on it that i just wanted it DONE.
Either way, all that's left is to put the top portions of the hood pins in, remove one hose, clean the interior, and that's pretty much it. Taking it to get aligned/corner weighted/set ride height/weld up exhaust on Friday, then i wait for Ludwig Motorsports to finish the current car they're working on.
Autolex wrote: what size are those RPF-1's? and what size are the star-specs?
They're actually Drag DR21s, these are just the street wheels/tires.
15x7, the Star Specs are 205/50-15. These tires really need an 8" wheel.
Might be some cosmetic/fascia changes to the car this Spring. Got a lead on one of these bumpers for a fair price. Trying to clinch deal right now.
In the meantime, taking the car to Raymond's Performance here in Indy for exhaust and setup. They're going to keep the car inside after that until Ludwig Motorsports is ready for it.
I like having friends.

You sir, are high.
My problem is that i hate hate HATE the front of this car as it sits.
There's not a ton of options.
Others would be this (on right, my favorite, but seems IMPOSSIBLE to find that bumper.):
Or this (not easy to find bumper):
Stock looks like E36 M3.
Yes, those aftermarket bumper covers are fugly. I like the stock one.
Fix the paint (rustoleum and some vinyl that thing), add a front splitter and a rear diffuser and get on with it.
Form follows function is sometimes the best way to deal with race car looks.
Would it be any better if i said that bumper isn't an aftermarket piece? Not a single bumper shown on this page is an aftermarket piece. They're all Ford or Mazda parts.
Stock front:
I can't believe you guys like that better than this:
Of course, if i were sane, my engine bay would probably look more like this at this point:
I'm guessing the black one is the only one you guys like at all?
That's my favorite as well.... but in almost 3 years of looking, haven't found one.
Um, that bumper makes the front look like it has zits (or boobs). I could do better with some flower foam and a bunch of fiberglass over the weekend.
That bumper would really only work on a full-fledged Escort Cosworth Rally car.
The big openings screw up aerodynamics unless filled with stuff to keep air moving over the car, not under it.
The stock front with some lawn edging and an aggressive splitter would look much better. Also, ditch the fog lights and add ducting behind the bumper to force all of the air coming through nose into the radiator.
Ultimately, its your car if you like the quasi-cosy bumper, go for it. We won't disown you. There might be some extra ribbing for you, but the rest of the work you've done is pure awesome-sauce.

The offending bumper that you guys hate is supposed to have huge fog lights in it from factory. It's a Mazda Familia GTR bumper.
On he bumper i'm running now, the fog lights have gotta stay. (If i can get them working.... not sure WTF is going on.) The lighting in these cars are absolutely horrid and any little bit i can get, i can't give up.
Do you find the one on the right in this picture to be as offensive? As a bonus, it should be even easier to fab a splitter on, since, you know... the bottom of it is actually FLAT, unlike this USDM pile of fail.
I suppose maybe i just need to let go of "looks" on this car completely because it's destined to be a race car first and foremost now. I just really really really hate the factory front on these things. Looks awful.
Stock front + lawn edging = flat edge to seal against the splitter.
BTW, the splitter should be mounted in the rear behind the front bumper, as far back as possible (under the engine, crossmember, etc)
Use the lawn edging to fill the gap once you get the angle of attack correct to actually produce downforce.
There was an aero article a few years ago in GRM that talked about splitters, etc.
Like I said, its your car do with it as you please. I don't mind the stock bumper cover and the black one is fine as well, if not a bit boring looking (honestly, just build something from cheap fiberglass and foam)

I like this one. The mazda one is too flashy, needs moar sleeper.
Good to see it's still not easy to get Laser/Familia body parts, I don't feel so bad about not getting back into Escrats.
Looks hot on all fours! I vote to leave the clearcoat and visible ITBs.
