BAT accepted our family's submission for selling my Grandma's old LaSalle:
https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1940-lasalle-40-5219/
My grandpa was an engineer and a life-long tinkerer and jack-of-all-trades. He could do almost anything it seems, from woodworking to house design to mechanics. I mosty know him through stories and the things he made that are still here, since he died when I was young. This was the last car he restored before he died in 2002, I think he just got it finished before he passed. My grandma kept the car for another twenty years before she went to be with him in 2021. This car is really the last part of the estate, and it's been sitting in my dad's garage for the last year. It has been nice to get to see the car and my grandpa's handiwork so close, but nobody in the family really has the ability to keep the car. I don't have space, my dad needs his garage back, and nobody else has the time or money to invest in making this run again. If anyone wants to drop by the auction just to check it out or offer a helpful comment that would be wonderful!
I looked at it.......North Carolina....picture of it.....grandpas car...........moonshiner car was my first thought.
Looks pretty cool!
Yep, really clean underneath - too bad you couldn't get the engine broke loose before it went up for sale.
Hemmings might be another good place to offer this for sale.
Is that what Archie and Edith drove?

Best reply of the month. This was hilarious.
Bump for the last day of the sale
Why is the price not going anywhere? Looks like a good starting place
How much effort was put into trying to free up the engine?
We filled up the cylinders with MMO several times, tried to spin the engine with as long of a ratchet as we could squeeze into the engine bay, and tried to rock the car back and forth in gear.
Too bad it didn't sell, it just didn't find its audience on BaT. I think maybe Hemmings might be a better place to list it....
Big reserve? Why did it not sell?
I fell in love with a '42 Coupe' with a big butt; mirror black paint , maroon leather, 12V , gages @ 6v.
The guy that bought it was the guy that bought my Cadimino.
Been pining ever since. =~ (
BTW, sold for $20k, a bargain by some folk.

Yes. And it ran great.
If All In The Family premiered today, the line would be, "Gee, our old LaSalle ran when parked..."
