Some inspiration:
I put it up on FB marketplace and OMFG, I have a massive pile up. Trying to figure out who gets to see it 1st. Most of these guys have at least 1 already too. Are 2002s like rabbits?(and I mean the furry kind, lol)
Given where parts prices are at the moment, most of them are looking at it as a cheap donor. Some of the mundane stuff has become insanely expensive - I just read that new water necks are over $200, for example. Anyone doing even a mild restoration is going to need lots of little stuff that adds up quick.

True. I have received 2 offers of 1700. And people are complaining that I'm getting offers over asking. Lol. It's all nuts. This wasn't worth saving a few years ago but with it still being solid enough for the doors to open and close straight.....

I think its a cool starting point for a fun project, but it will never be restored to original condition.
I spent a huge amount of time looking at the pictures and thinking this ... but then I realized I do not really have the knowledge to fix it to the point that would make me happy. If I could weld better and patch the major holes, like the windshield ones, I would have bought it and made a fun runabout out of it.
I just hope it does not get bought and then thrown in a yard and forgotten about.
The windshield area probably takes the most skill. The rest is pretty basic. Tons, and I mean tons of restoration videos gathered love to rust

Over the years, I junked two of these that were in better shape than yours. It's pretty shocking. Let the buyers bid it up - might as well take it while you can get it.

The value on these have skyrocketed. If this was a tii, a pro restoration would be covered by the resale value. Really is nuts but, as 1 guy said " it's complete and has a title? $1500 is cheap"
In reply to Docwemple :
Makes me wish I'd bought the almost rust-free early 72 tii (plastic runners) I was offered for $1500 a bunch of years ago. Oh well....
