Sorry, but torment this:  I just bailed.

I called the seller because I just couldn't find a way to justify this project 4 hours away when I have now a dead BMW bike and Goldwing.  He said someone is coming to look on Sunday, but if he doesn't buy, seller offered to meet me half way.  (2hrs away)  Mom wants it gone.

Skinny, you know where the ceiling is ......

I read that as he wants to purchase both the Pinto and Stampie's Lotus.

I'd probably go get it if I could get a Lotus for it.

Well as cool as that Pinto is, Stampie's Lotus needs a drivetrain & the Pinto's seems like it would be suitable.

Yes we actually talked earlier today but unfortunately something came up that took me out of the race.

Understood, unfortunately this happens more than we like.  I'm going to renew my efforts to buy it, but after all the work, money, frustration and scraped knuckles, it's a $2k car.  =~ (

Two paths: Buy it.  Wrench some.  Challenge it.  Then the paths diverge. 

1. Decide you like it, keep it.  Polish the turd.
2. Decide you don't like it, sell it at the Challenge. 
   • Plan for this even if you go with #1 by letting Stampie and Stampie Jr take a few turns in it.

Keep the interior, except for the driver's seat. That plaid is rad. I wouldn't even add a cage unless you plan to track it. If you are seriously thinking Challenge I would prioritize spending time getting it running and driving. Sort the timing issue, change turbos (?),  then think about upgrades.
