That is really cool. Not sure if I've seen a 626 coupe that old in that decent shape. Almost like a homemade Cosmo.
I was thinking the same thing, it is similar to a Cosmo. With a built rotary, that thing would be a real sleeper!
That's in Wyoming mn. Home to polaris' engineering center. Good chance it was owned by a young engineer who now has family duty.
Oooooh....the only brand new car I ever bought was a 1980 626. I loved that car, and I always thought about how a rotary swap would have been fun (the original 2 liter four was pretty anemic.) I haven't seen one in 20 years, I thought they'd all rusted away long ago. This one is close to me too, but the last thing I need at this point in life is another project.
I spent a lot of time driving a 1980 4-door when I was younger. I really dig these little guys. I'd yank out the rotary and put a fun little four back in ;)
Yeah, that car is calling out for an FE3 or F2T swap, but some brap-brap noises also have an appeal here.
