So, this one is tough to post, but is time.
This is my best friend's first truck. Hes had it sine the mid 90s, learning to drive in it. He dated his wife in it.
Its been parked for six years, as it developed a heavy smoking problem, and he had a kid and traded up to something with ac and air bags.
Anyway, hes finally decided hes not going to get around to restoring it before it rots into the earth.
Included in the sale is extra body parts, extra interior parts, extra glass, the rust free truck, the clean title, and no seats.
Hes put the condition on the sale that it gets brought back to life. He HOPES for a fsther son restoration, or some sort of long term ownership of love, not a hacked up and discarded challenge car. He always dreamed of bagging it and putting something with fuel injection in it, so id ASSUME that would be cool.
I'll help facilitate a transfer to a good home however I can.
Hes asking $1500, and truck is in Charleston nc.

Very cool looking. Is it basically the same as a Ford Courier, or were Mazda and Ford intertwined at that point?
Had one of these way back in the day, been jonesing to build an 80's mini truck, good luck with the sale
Cool truck, but I don't need another project. Good Luck with the sale.
In reply to TheWraith :
This may be the one for you! Cause he's an 80s minitruck kid
In reply to Stampie :
I was trying to convince him to go 3400. Or fe3 kia motor
Any dash/inside pics? And maybe under the hood. Looks like a good 4.0 swap candidate. I love these and rangers and I am kinda close near Asheville. In Charlotte nc?

That needs a 2.3T.
Damn good thing my hobby fund is empty right now.
In reply to jovibuilt :
Correct, Charlotte nc. Ill see if i can have him get some interior pictures tonight after work.
And i hadn't thought about a 4.0! That would scoot pretty good!

Interested in an engine component (that I am having difficulty finding) from the 2.0L if it ends up heading towards a part-out or engine swap.

Fyi: brother Dustin moonlights as a craigslist photographer....
Heres interior and engine pictures. The seats don't go with it (sentimental reasons)
In reply to Dusterbd13-michael :
Did he get his first lay in those seats?
In reply to Stampie :
Yup. And they came out of his brothers civic that was the first new car ever in the family, and....
Man, this thing haunted my dreams last night.
Duratec powered. Modern lighting tucked behind a Ni-Copp phantom grille. Current paint preserved plus a large copper separator between the white and blue, add some pinstripe. Laid out on wide, bright copper painted steelies.
After seeing the CL-esque interior pics, I'll probably have nightmares tonight....
In reply to gumby :
Your vision is PERFECT.
the interior is actually pretty mint. Dssh is tge best ive seen in one of these, ever. Door panels in great shape, solid floors, good headliner. No mold or mildew, as hes kept after airing it out and keeping it dry. Hell, hes been washing it every month or so!
No nightmares needed. Just cleaned up and cleaned out.
You need this. It needs a good next caretaker.
This would be a great father son project for my 15 year old and I. How hard would a Miata engine swap be?
In reply to Mazdax605 :
Honestly, i don't think it would be too hard. Ive looked at both my mb and this side by side with the hoods up more than once!

A few guys have done engine or engine +subframes swaps. Everything (mounts, etc) is custom done but doable
If I wasn't buried in my S10 project, this would be awesome to clean up, refresh the engine, and have fun on cruise nights and Radwood.
this needs the ecoboost 2.0 + miata trans that dherr is selling. Just saying.
