Unfortunately, it's beyond time for my 1981 924 Turbo Project to move along to a new owner. It's had a persistent fuel relay related issue! Now, the back hatch glass was shattered in a massive windstorm (car has been covered). I'm headed to grad school, and I don't have the space, time, or skills to keep working on it.

Located in Durham, NC. Asking $8000.
Would consider trades (can add cash) for a reliable manual trans, A/C equipped, daily-driver sporty car. *Will also be listing my good-weather daily driver 91 MR2 Turbo if you're interested in some sort of package deal.

Restomod/outlaw style, and the work performed looks to have been really well done! Some items of note are custom seats and dash, Carrera II wheels, Carrera GT style hood scoop and matching intercooler, a nice sporty steering wheel, gated shifter with 944 LSD transmission.
Please see below for info from previous sale on the extent of the build!

I bought it ~3 years ago as I've always had a soft spot for the 931, and it was too nice to pass up. That said, after it has sat for that time, there is some sort of fuel issue related to the relay. Likely running too rich and causing the hesitation seen in the attached video.

Pros
-Boosts really well!
-Everything is fresh and clean mechanically, and most of the metal brackets, etc. have been nicely powder coated.
-Odometer was reset when built, shows just under 4k miles.
-Fresh Battery
-A collection of receipts.

Cons
-Rear hatch and frame was destroyed in a massive windstorm. Still have the 968 style spoiler. Would be able to help source a new hatch glass/frame for shipping.
-Windshield is cracked in several places from the storm damage.
-Meteor Grey Metallic(?) paint is not in the best shape - was very thin and the shattered glass damaged the paint on the hood & roof. Has Porsche crests cleared into front fenders.
-Fuel pump is wired to the battery with a switch, bypassing the fuel relay.
-Sunroof drains are not clear. (a couple interior panels are removed as I tried to clear these out)
-Battery tray drain to fenders is plugged.
-Rear hatch lock is removed to be rekeyed to ignition key.

Happy to answer any questions as best I can. I don't know much more than what is posted below in terms of technical details. I can help facilitate shipping if you arrange it, or help with delivery on the east coast.

1981 Porsche 924 Turbo (a.k.a. 931): Restoration that was a complete tear down and re-build.

All suspension components media blasted and powder coated. Upgraded urethane bushings and suspension hardware replaced. Braking system was completely rebuilt; new master cylinder, new lines and hoses, media blasted/high temp painted rebuilt calipers, new rotors and high performance pads. New wheel bearings at the corners, rebuilt CV shafts and alignment by a Porsche/Audi specalist assures perfect handling. Equipped with a 5 speed Limited Slip Differential transaxle for great traction and an upgraded shift linkage for better feel and longevity. All bearings and isolators in the torque tube were replaced and power is transferred to the transaxle through a new, heavy duty clutch that is actuated via new Master and Slave cylinders. The car sits on black powder coated 911 Carrara II wheels wrapped in Goodyear Eagle F1 Tires.

The engine was completely re-worked; Custom forged pistons that are ceramic coated, Connecting rods that were polished and super-finished, Cometic head gasket, ARP studs and bolts, upgraded oil pump, balanced and superfinished crankshaft, deck/mains/pan surface all cut and trued. The cylinder head was port and cylinder matched, ceramic coated combustion chambers and was fitted with new valves/guides/seats. The turbo was also freshly rebuilt and along with new springs, bushings and diaphragm in the waste gate and is ready for your boost controller to manage up to 18 lbs. of boost. A period correct 937 style intercooler with associated hood scoop is fitted on the car.

All functional rubber on the car was replaced; hoses, mounts, isolators, etc. Both fuel pumps and associated fuel management parts have been replaced with upgraded and/or OEM Bosch units and the fuel distributor was tuned by a Bosch/Porsche specialist. All ignition components are new and upgraded where practical.

The interior is new with reupholstered front seats that have a custom embroidered Porsche logo on the headrest. The dashboard has been fiberglass wrapped and re-coated. Controls and venting for the heating system have been re-worked to optimize the defrost feature. A period looking radio with Bluetooth, USB, SD and AUX inputs is paired with 6 speakers for good sound quality.

The exterior was re-painted in the classic Meteor Grey Metallic with Porsche logos incorporated into the sides of the front fenders. All external rubber has been replaced; window seals, gaskets, etc. The bumpers have been pulled in 1.5 inches and the ‘US Spec’ rubber pads have been removed. The foam rubber rear spoiler has been replaced with a color matched spoiler from a 968. The antenna was removed from the front fender and moved to the rear-center of the roof.

Car as it sits this week:

I wanted one of these in the worst possible way in 1981. I'm glad I don't live near you (or hadn't just bought a Miata) or I would be sorely tempted.

You'll need to log in to post.
