I spent a big chunk of the late 80's looking out for Crown Vics, but I don't ever remember seeing one of these before. I drove past this car on the side of the road yesterday and then found it on Craigslist. I had to do a double take.

Those are exceedingly rare. I see one on the road VERY occasionally (same one, I think the guy lives in my area) on collector plates, and I know of another one parked in Bloomington that I used to see on my way home from work.
Too far for me to go, but this is one of those cars that if I found one locally in good shape, I'd be hard pressed to pass it up, if the price was right.
My last Crown Vic was even black with red pinstripes, although the one in the ad seems like it has more options than my stripped down car had.
I saw it again today. Passenger's door is dented, but the rest is in very nice condition.
Gonorrhea is pretty rare these days, doesn't mean they are any more desirable for it.

I take it you're not gonna go buy it?
For awhile, I tried to find the even rarer Grand Marquis version of this, and found one a year ago...the same color combo. It was advertised with about double the miles of this one and the price was less than a grand. I doubted it was as well kept (from the CL pix in the ad) as this example. I just didn't think I could make the transition, so to speak, from a Civic to a G-M so passed it up.
About 4-5 years ago, I found a Crown Vic like this one in a lady's driveway literally on the wrong side of the tracks. It looked decent so I told her if she decided to sell to give me a call. She traded the car and I never heard about it. That car was the cream on cream color combo that was also quite popular.
I would still be tempted by one of these if it was in good shape, had a good color combo, and I'd definitely knock on the seller's door for one with the "lacey" / spiderweb alloy wheels some of these cars had.
My friend's dad used to have a whole fleet of those.
He had 2x 2 door Grand Marquis and 2x 4 door Grand Marquis. They were all in various stages of decomposition but were fun cars for getting around in back when I was 16 and 17. All of them were that cream/light tan except for one of the 2 doors that was gray/gray interior.

That ones's a lot closer to me, but the rust on the door scares me. If its that bad there, what's it like under the trim? Not a big deal on a 4 door, just hit the junkyard for a replacement, but on this, not as easy to find parts.
Not sure if you guys like the earlier body style, but here is a 77 Grand Marquis 2-door with 42k miles for $3800 asking: http://seattle.craigslist.org/tac/cto/3989906461.html
460 motor should be pretty stout, and theoretically a car from that area shouldn't have rust, not that I wouldn't check it out to be sure. If it was a wagon I would be all over it.
