Today I realized my Rabbit project needs a new home. I have a heated one car garage that houses the Rabbit, among other things, and I have two vehicles to keep running. And it's 19 degrees outside with ten inches of snow on the ground.
So keeping a non-running vehicle in there full time isn't an option anymore.
Many images and details of work done can be found in the build thread here.
The TL/DR version:
- all major rust is repaired, either Klokkerholm panels of stuff I fabbed up
- original engine and auto trans are in the car, I have not driven it. Have had it start with starting fluid
- a second engine with a manual trans comes with it, came from a running pickup. But I've not been in them at all.
- will certainly need a gas tank, brakes front and rear, and new lines run for both
- Electrics worked when I tested them
- clean title in my name
$350 asking price? That seems fair, I think? Honestly finding someone who wants to finish it is my bigger concern.
Ten inches of snow already? Can't you just move it to the yard and it will disappear until spring?

If this were closer I'd be tempted to offer you my rusty but running 900S in trade. Or $350. It's good you're far enough away.
The problem here is neighbors. As much as I want to tell them to berkeley off, well- they actually wouldn't. It's more complicated than it really needs to be.
In the mean time I may be able to play a shell game with a car cover, but that probably won't work for too long.
Giving this a bump, I would still like to have my garage back.
I'm more than happy to entertain offers, but they would have to be for monies.
I can't find your number, Text me; I'll take it one way or another

My parents owned a rabbit in Ann Arbor around then. Does your car have crank windows, tan naugahyde and a penchant for vapor-locking when it's above 75 degrees?
In reply to Dave M (Forum Supporter) :
It has crank windows, but a grey-ish interior.
It also has the Howard Cooper dealer badge with it :-)

I saw on the build thread! That's so cool. Great car - takes me back!
The Rabbit is off to its new home :-)
Thank you very much, he is super excited!
