Located in Fort Collins CO (north of Denver, south of Cheyenne).

Berk it, finally posting.  Short version: I want garage space and to move on to something else.  2x ‘project’ cars + fton of other E36M3 all packed into a 2-car garage is just too much friction for me to overcome and get anything done on any of it.

Later on I will add more pics, plus better details, and maybe check that the engines haven't seized.  I have not listed the Sprints locally yet.

Let's say the starting point for a GRM-exclusive discounted asking price is $500 each?  I am open to offers ($ numbers cannot be negative) or barter/trade (I’ll add a list of especially interesting stuff).  Limited time offer, subject to change at any time for any reason, etc.  I do not have any real time pressure to move the Sprints, however there has been a $900 Leaf on CL...

Quick summary description of the cars, followed by old pix from when they went into the garage:

1987 Chevy Sprint Turbo: clean IL title in my name, 93k, 5-speed, ran/ drove when parked in ’98 (yeah...), clutch seemed okay but no guarantees, very sketchy collision repair to driver’s front corner plus significant rocker rust-thru, interior gutted (still have almost all pieces except the carpet), 6-pt roll bar (1.5 x .095 main hoop) plus tubes run thru the door sills, aero trim pieces will need some way to be attached, zero miles (but 25 years) on t-belt, all brake components replaced except original master and hard lines, 12mm wheel studs, front bumper beam has brackets to flat tow, windshield is cracked but all other glass is okay, have 4x white Turbo wheel covers but they are in poor condition

1988 Chevy Sprint (NOT-turbo): clean CO title in my name, 148k, 5-speed with low miles on clutch, ran/drove when parked in 2004 but carb 100% will need a rebuild now, no structural rust but was repainted plus big dent in driver’s door, interior is mostly intact but rather gross, windshield is cracked but all other glass is okay (aside from bubbled tint)

Extra parts: 1x 5-speed transaxle (from non-turbo, missing 2nd and reverse); 1x pair of headlights; 1x front bumper cover and beam; 1x pair of side mirrors; A/C systems from both cars; 1x Geo Metro TBI unit; Reese tow bar if’n you want it.

There are a total of 8x steel wheels + old 12" tires (145 or 155) which might still be safe enough to flat tow; 1x really old 165/70R12, 1x space saver spare (presumably from 1988)

I had way too much fun with my '87 turbo Sprint in Pittsburgh, Indianapolis, and Akron in the mid 1990's!   That little thing was a hoot!

Greetings, I'm definitely interested in the 1987 Sprint Turbo but might also be interested in your 1988 Sprint etc. Regards, Kevin

I'm assuming PMs work: click on the user name and there is a contact button on the right.  Or more simply append the 3-digit number "one hundred twenty-seven" to my user name and, gee, you probably end up with the 'mail address I'm using.

I will work on getting more pix tomorrow (eh, or later today.  Meaning, I will finally clean a decade's worth of cardboard boxes off of the cars).

I am willing to sell the cars separately, but please do pay careful attention to the words "...significant rocker rust-thru" which I put in the description for the Turbo.  The Turbo has an Illinois title b/c it came from IL.

Considering that there is a rust-free (and mostly undamaged) unibody available, the sensible approach at this point is to swap over all of the Turbo components to the non-turbo, and then convert the ex-Turbo unibody into a partial tube frame while performing a radical engine+drivetrain swap (V8, K-series, Tesla, midengine, AWD, I do not care... but the nuttier the idea, the more willing I am to make a really good deal).  "Sensible" is highly subjective, and I know there are mitigating factors (like not having space for 2x cars).  I never started pulling the Turbo's drivetrain out of its unibody b/c the only thing worse than someone's abandoned project car is someone's disassembled abandoned project car.

I am not saying that the Turbo's unibody is completely unusable, but I would strongly suggest you do not take it to any state requiring a safety inspection.  Back in '98, I thought the reinforcement tubes I added to the door sills should work well enough.  But I also was a know-nothing recent graduate who has been on the SAE Mini-Baja team and was cluelessly obsessed with the "add lightness" idea.  You will have to fab something for mounting the plastic under-door aero pieces, b/c right now there is only air.  I found out that the factory passenger-side lower seatbelt anchor had been kept in place by the carpet.  Unrelated to rust, I also found out that the DS front corner of the car had been held on by three sheetmetal screws, a 3/16 bolt, the sway bar, and roofing tar.  Also that the wiring harness behind the DS fender had been cut (in order to replace that corner) and then spliced back together by twisting the ends of the wires together before covering with duct tape.  Contrary to the typical usage of the phrase, I do know what I've got...

An abbreviated version of my history w/ the cars: in '97 I was living in IL and bought the red Turbo Sprint for $450 (recent grad, had discovered GRM, wanted a project car).  I gutted the interior, dealt with rust, put in the roll bar, replaced the brake components, etc.  but I didn't get it finished or driving.  Then I moved to CO and left the Turbo behind in IL.  Soon after, the Blue non-turbo showed up in the FtCol classifieds w/in walking distance of my apartment for $150 w/ a transmission missing 2nd and reverse.  Bought it, had the trans replaced plus T-belt and carb rebuild, daily drove it for a while.  Moved to a house, stopped DDing the Blue Sprint b/c I didn't want to die on I-25, flat towed the Turbo out from IL, stuffed both cars into the garage, and much time passed.

A new pic of the Turbo's tailgate (it's the only part of the car still visible right now), the bottoms of the doors are similar.  The outer skins all still look mostly okay.

Update/ closure: the cars are sold and on their way to do stuff that's more awesome than anything I ever dreamed about.

More accurately (and not surprising), the blue unibody + turbo engine are doing that.

The red unibody is on its way to become rebar or whatever happens with questionable quality steel these days...

I hope he knows that there are differences between turbo/non-turbo before he scraps the whole thing
