Scott, my online acquaintance Andy contacted you the other day, assuming he's not getting confused with a different car, and said that you didn't really present it as something he could easily drive back to NC.

If he was actually talking to you and wasn't getting confused with the other white MX6 GT out there, i think you may be being far too critical of the car, and possibly it's scaring off buyers.

I told him the car would have no problems getting back down to NC and it's certainly better than the POS some Probe forum member sold him, but he's scared.

Now, whether or not he has the money anyways, i really have no idea.

I'd just put some blurb in there about "Would not hesitate to drive to Alaska" or whatever, and staunchly stick to that story when asked. I drove mine to GRM $2012, competed, and drove back with a blown headgasket and blown turbo. Your car is set to go anywhere.

Yeah I've been in conversation with him about it. He did ask if it could drive back to NC and I told him I can't say because I've never driven it that far. I have no doubt it could drive anywhere, but it is a 27 year old car with 219k miles, so I can't be responsible for what happens to it when it leaves my driveway. With this car I've had more than one ass hat potential buyer that wanted me to sign my name in blood that the car was in perfect condition, could drive to New York, could pass PA inspection without a hitch. I'm not going to do that and have them looking back at me saying "YOU SAID IT WOULD, YOU SAID IT WOULD!!!!!"

I just wouldn't have even entertained it in the first place, but maybe you're just too nice.

I would have said "it's a $2k MX6 in great shape, but since it's 27 years old, there will be no warranty."

Nobody else will give him a warranty, nip that in the bud right away. Saying "i trust it to drive to NC" is all he would need to know.

I drove a 400$ corolla 1100 miles sight unseen. Your car is arguably in better nick, and less prone to being finicky than a corolla of equal origin is. It's not a matter of whether or not it will make it (I'd fly to pitt tomorrow and grab it if I had the $$$ in my pocket) it's a matter if the driver has the balls to do it. It's a car that 27 years old. People are chickens. You have to sell them on it being bulletproof before they'll believe you.

I'm honestly can't believe the human race while trying to sell this car. The things people have tried to get me to do to sell it have been something I couldn't have made up if I'd try.

The problem is that you're getting it twofold.

1) Normal CL people

2) Probe owners who want to upgrade to an MX6. These people are the worst. MX6 owners are cheap bastards. Probe owners take that to a whole new level, then add in IQ levels that are normally associated with heavy brain damage, and it's just not a good mix.

Seems like you need to get some better attention. If you don't mind, when I get some free time, I'd like to write an ad for this car. Free of charge. I've been told I have a gift. Guaranteed people will read it. And if you don't like it, well, you have all of GRM to heap hate on me.

Friends, countrymen, lend me your ears... And give me your money. In return, I shall give you what is perhaps one of the best automobiles on the planet, if not the most underrated. Now, chances are if you're reading this- you know what this car is. IN CASE you don't, let me explain it.

What we have is a 1988 Mazda mx6 GT. That's right GRAND TOURING. You know what that means? This bad boy is the top of the line. The cream of the crop. the 1%. Even at 27 years of age (which is still young in people years!) this car begs to show you what it can do. From the factory TURBOCHARGED engine (yep, turbo. You wanna go fast? This will rock you like a hurricane) to the Recaro seats (Mazda actually was like "Yo, Recaro, make us some thrones for this bad boy. Our drivers gonna be taken care of"... and Recaro was like "Yeah, we got this. It's basically a race car. We can do that.) This car has it all. Don't let the mileage fool you. 215k? This'll run longer than that brand new Corolla you just bought, and will get more chicks doing it. (Proven fact, chicks like turbo cars.) I would not hesitate to drive this baby to the moon tomorrow, if it wouldn't make NASA and Richard whatshisface look bad. Tell you what, if this thing had Challenger on the rear quarter, we wouldn't have had Ronny Reagan explaining that we just blowed up some astronauts. Yep, it's that badass. If you're STILL reading this- you might want to know some particulars. So- lets get that out of the way.

215k on the clock. Yep, just barely broken in. I've seen cars with more mileage hoover 30+psi and laugh. They're indestructible.

Slick top! that means, no sunroof. Stiffer chassis, less up top weight, more room for your helmet (or...interpersonal relations that you'll no doubt be swimming in after purchase). Exceedingly rare in GT form.

Very nearly rust free. From what I can tell this car has spent most of its life outside of the rust belt, if not all. I purchased it in NC, where it passed inspection with flying colors. Maybe they were just in shock of how badass it was and passed it by default, maybe it threatened them. Who knows. But it runs and drives awesome. DISCLAIMER HERE- It has not passed or been registered in PA yet. For two grand, that is not going to be my problem. It SHOULD pass, but I am not signing any blood pacts or promissory notes of firstborn that it will. That's on you dude. Want a guarantee? Buy a Honda. Wanna kick ass? Buy this.

AC works, blows cold, converted to R134, and the vents even work good still. (Mazda made some KILLER oscillating vents for these cars. That's Bentley type ish right there, in the 80's. Suck it, Crewe)

HOST of upgrades and recent updates to make sure this car is as tip top as possible. They include-

-Eclipse ninja wheels with newish tires (ninja..... that says it all)

-Centerforce clutch

-Drilled/slotted front rotors

-Steel braided brake lines

-Chipped ECU (MOAR POWAAAAAR)

-New NGK wires

-New plugs

-New timing belt

-New shifter bushings

-New clutch slave and master cylinder

-New catalytic convertor (Pass the sniffer, y0!)

-2.5" cat back exhaust

-Greddy in dash boost controller (Gotta show how much she can go! Mesmerize and horrify your friends at the speed of plaid).

-Tokico blue shocks

-Eibach springs

-Greddy boost gauge

-Momo steering wheel

-NewEnergy suspension sway bar bushings

-New Energy suspension sway bar end links

-HKS intercooler piping (Exceedingly rare, and exceedingly awesome. You want this stuff)

-New rear sway bar bushings

-New tie rod ends

-NO RADIO! You don't need one. All you need is the sound of how awesome you are, and the sound of people fighting to give you their phone numbers, to date you, or to be like you, or just to wash your clothes for you. And trust me, they will.

NOW FOR THE FUN PART? How do you acquire such an awesome beast? Feats of strength? Indentured servitude? Rare collectible Confederate dessert plates? No. While all are awesome, none can POSSIBLY hope to live up to the legend of this car. Quite frankly, nothing you have will suffice, other than cash. I like US currency featuring the faces of Benjamin Franklin, Andrew Jackson, and Ulysses S Grant. Now, I know, it seems like you're getting a bargain, and you are. A simple wad of paper for THIS level of excitement? It can hardly be true! But, it can. I have fought to tame the beast, and it has bested me. Maybe you're a better man than I, or woman. Bring me a wad of cash and find out.

TLDR version? 88mx6 GT. 215k. Slick top. Wad of new parts. Cash only. No paypal, western union, Nigerian blood diamonds, Spanish lotto tickets, stock in facebook or offers of labor. Come and get it, before someone becomes more awesome than you.

So these turn like 2800rpm on the highway, right? Is cruise control an option/equipped?

All shenanigans and funny business aside, this is the gd car to have if you're looking right now. Its one of the best ones I've seen in recent memory. I can't for the life of me figure out why screamin would sell it, but people aren't all like me, so there is that.

Thanks for the ad write up! That may go to CL.

As to why I'm selling. Really like the raw torque of this car. It really is a hoot at low boost. I guess I just never fell in love. I've been parting the focus SVTs and I really love those cars.

Different strokes for different folks- Some people like torqueless hondas..... at least SVT's are better than those
