E30 Tourings were never imported to the USA, and as I understand, only a few to Canada. I didn't know that a Touring iX even existed, can a hardcore Bimmer head provide some insight on this thing? Is it even real, or someone's mashup project?

E30 IX touring did exist as a very rare Europe only offering for 3 years. This one appears legit based on the VIN decode. It was likely imported to the US by someone in the military.

It's horrendously overpriced, but also incredibly cool. If I had F.U. money, I'd be on a flight to Ohio. Alas, I don't.

Now that most E30 Touring models meet the 25-year rule, quite a few have made it across the pond. They've been the darlings of BaT recently. $14.5K for that car seems about right. Actually a bit surprised they aren't asking for more.

A rust free regular 325ix is $5000 or more. That price doesn't surprise me at all.

Those are conflicting statements in the collector-car world. And these are definitely "collector cars" now. "Overpriced" is a matter of opinion. It's worth what someone is willing to pay for it and history has shown E30 Tourings can sell for deep into the 5-digit range these days. As mentioned, AWD versions weren't common when new and adding a manual just increases the "unicorn" status. IMHO, the detractor for this car is the white paint, as I don't care for white cars. If I had the cash to spend on a car like this, I'd hold out for one in a different color, even if I had to spend more.

A nice 88 iX can go for $7500-9000 and that's a plain jane sedan. There's definitely the wagon tax going on.

I find it interesting that all the used wagons sell for substantially more than their sedan counterparts yet manufacturers claim they can't sell the wagons new as nobody wants them....

I agree with everything you said. I'd also like to point out that I said later in my post that if I had 'Berk You', I'd pay every cent of the asking price. I'm opposite- I love the snot out of alpine White for some reason. It's bland, but nicely restored black trim makes the entire car pop.

It's a highly optioned car too, which is rare for the EU specced cars. Strange it has the comfort seats vs the sports seats given the option list tho

E30 wagons aren't quite as common in Europe as one might think, that was the beginning of the lifestyle wagon craze in Europe so they didn't sell that many as wagons were still considered vehicles for your local plumber or handyman at the time. The iX wagon is rather rare, the ixs didn't sell all that well in the first place and only in snowy regions (this one's Swiss spec, which makes sense).

At $15k I don't think there is a big markup even over the price in Europe for it. E30s are cult vehicles over there, too, and the ix wagon is pretty much the holy grail of non-M3 E30s. I think the only one that's rarer is the E34 525ix wagon.

They made an E34 AWD wagon, too. M50 engine, only 9,366 were made (according to Wiki).
