Yeah, you find that out the hard way when I had to replace the ABS modulator.

It has the Frankenstein screws and the interior side strikers. So it had a factory hardtop in its life time.

All NAs have the bolts. I don't see the side striker plates.

I took another look at the picture. I thought I made out the bracket in the interior but it would be behind the seatbelt.  :0(   My 94 LE does not have either.

Your 93 LE (black and red is a 93 LE, there was no 94 LE) had them from the factory. Someone's removed them to make the car look sleeker. The cut side panels show that your car had a hardtop at one point, though - they're not cut from the factory unless the car is shipped with one. Mazda provides a nice guide on the backside of the panel to make it easier.

I had emailed one of the previous owners about the hardtop but he never had it. It is somewhere in Utah I am assuming.               I type-o the 94 . >:0[
