3.0l v8 always sounded intriguing to me.

I had the 3.0 Liter V8 in the Einhorn

It's not all it cracked up to be.  I was actually quite disappointed in it if I'm completely honest.  VERY little torque at lower rpms.  When doing a usual "slow down, down shift to 2nd gear turn", if the revs were below 3,000, it was painful to wait on the engine to spool up for power.  It felt like really bad turbo lag.

I can't seem to find the dyno chart for power delivery at the moment but it was a very steep curve. Nothing down low where the engine lives in daily driving.

I changed a clutch in one of these, all I remember is spending most of the time getting the starter out.  Mine was a 2.5 so not really the same.  But with the close ratio and 3:90 rear it was an absolute hoot to drive.  Yes, a Hoot.

Like Indy-Guy said, keep it above 3000 rpms and it pretty good.

The "secret" sauce mods are

  • 3.46 ratio
  • M60B40 Intake
  • Lightweight flywheel (11lbs)
  • Muffler delete
  • Chip

With the stock intake, the engine is a bit flat. Mine has the B40 intake and muffler delete and hauls pretty good for 215 chp & ctq. This made engine much more lively.

Supposedly, you can use the B40 MAF housing and B30 MAF sensor as well. I never tried it.
