Time to sell the single best financial decision I've ever made in my life, what I call the Silver Bullet.
It's a 2000 VW Jetta TDI 4 door sedan with a 5 speed manual transmission. Grey leather interior, 45-50 mpg, very well maintained and fun to drive car ready for the next owner. The interior is very clean and in great condition. Engine will outlast the next ice age. Exterior has a few dings and is showing signs of FL Sun cancer on the hood and roof. That’s the worst thing about this car, the paint. No rust. 225,000 miles.
Comes with 3.5 sets of keys (you’ll see). All weather floor mats. No modifications and everything replaced with OEM or VW parts.
I have a spreadsheet that tracks all maintenance and repairs and maintenance. Timing belt is due in 25k miles. Oil always changes with Rotella T Synthetic and either Mann or Bosch filters. Tires replaced 20k miles ago with Cooper RS4 (I think) which have been the greatest set of tires I’ve ever bought. Lifetime alignment with Firestone which technically doesn’t transfer with the car but I bet you could fake it. Or if you’re local I’ll gladly stop by and get it aligned for you whenever you want.
I really love this car. 730+ miles a tank if you’re on the highway and it gets a lot of attention when people find out it’s a diesel. It has been really hard adapting to a conventional gas engine after the TDI. I miss the mpg, filling up once a month and sound of the turbo diesel…but it’s time to move on. Someone come take good care of this thing for me.

Wow that's a hell of deal for $3500, honestly you might have it priced a little low given you have paperwork for the maintenance and no rust. These are great cars that are super reliable and great MPG, best decision I made 5 years ago was to buy mine, I have one with similar miles and it's ready for 100k more. Good luck with your sale.

Hmmm.... yeah it's been hard to price since you can find them all over the map for anywhere between 1-6k. I thought this was a fair price and I'll keep it at $3500 for GRM folks but maybe I'll bump it up on craigslist.
Thanks!

Wow, that does seem liek a good price. Did you post it on TDiClub?

Sure did.
Also: List of maintenance items excluding filters/fluids:
Air compressor clutch, arm rest latch/hinge, alternator, ball joints, brake pads/rotors (170k), control arm bushings, dipstick tube, glow plug harness, headliner, oil pan (was leaking), radiator fans, relay 109, rear view mirror switch, sway bar bushings, tie rod ends, timing belt, trunk lever (5 year warranty).
Everything is documented in that spreadsheet.
Also, I remembered one modification I did to the car. I added an fumoto valve which makes oil changes a dream.

Also available are roof racks, hitch mount, mud flaps, headliner roll (bought enough for 3 headliners worth), extra new fan, seat heater switches and a VAG COM.
What does a timing belt service cost?
Any discount airlines fly into Tampa?
For some unknown reason, some stations here in Spartanburg are selling diesel cheaper than regular.

If DIY, the parts don't cost much - under $300 for a complete 100K service kit. It's the special tools that bump up the initial cost (Metalnerd timing belt tools, plus VAG-COM for checking the injection timing - although he's including that (~$250 value). Be wary of anyone who changes the belt using the "mark and pray" method.
In a nutshell, you have to lock the crank, pump and camshaft at TDC, disconnect the cam pulley from the cam, which allows everything to "float" while setting the belt tension. There's a few more important details, but that's the gist of it. The special tools are mainly for performing those locking tasks.
If you pay an indie shop, the job typically runs about $800, give or take - typical for a transverse FWD car, it can be time consuming getting to everything. The other option is searching out a "TDI-guru" on TDiClub who will often do it for less. It's one of those jobs where the more often you do it, the faster you'll get. If I had more room/time, I'd probably do it for beer.
I am still trying to figure out the 3.5 keys part ...
My 996 came with a valet key that has no remote. I'm guessing that's what's being referred to

You said "cancer" on the hood and roof, but you also said it was "rust free".
Looks like paint fade.
I would typically use the word "cancer" to describe (fairly severe) bubbling rust.
Can you explain more?
Florida sun cancer = paint fade.

What's that mean?
Does it mean, "Floridians call paint fade cancer", or "Once the paint fades in the FL sun, cancer follows quickly"?
Or maybe, "I'll have a bologna sandwich, please",
This:

That was way easier than the 3.5 keys

Sorry for the delay. There is no bubbling up of steel. Just clearcoat failure. A heavy coat of wax takes care of the fade on the hood but the skin cancer on the roof is beyond saving.
Ian nailed the timing belt swap procedure. All the tools can be rented from website online if you didn't want to buy the specialized tools. And the vagcom isn't included at this price but we can certainly work out a deal where I include everything I have (VW OEM roof racks and some extra parts).
For discount airlines we have a bunch. Southwest, Spirt, Allegiant (to PIE), Jet Blue...plenty of cheap flights to be found.

A/C clutch died, car is currently marked down to $3000 until I replace the AC clutch (already bought). Come get a deal and I'll include the new clutch that needs to be installed! Just moved so my tools are in storage and I don't want to work on this thing!
Man this is tempting to get a good DD.
Do you or regular passengers smoke/vaper or anything in it?

Nope. No kids no animals no smoking. Always kept clean
That being said, the car smells like a crayon after a hot day in the sun. It's a VW thing.
Also need to mention - The ABS light has been on since I bought the car. The drivers side front sensor always blows and after the 2nd replacement I gave up on it. This car has its quirks but it's definitely a $$$ saver and mileage queen.
