Selling my 2002 Chevy short bus. Gas 5.7L, 94,660 miles. Located in VA.
Good/additions/maintenance:
- 94,xxx miles, was YMCA bus that was "fleet" maintained for most of its life.
- I replaced the intake manifold gaskets, injector "spider", plugs, wires, etc. when I bought it at like 85k miles. Oil change, flushed cooling system extensively and new air filter.
- Put brakes on it when I bought it.
- Added a receiver hitch
- Added factory cruise control (mostly junkyard parts, plus new wiper/cruise stalk)
- Battery is less than 6mo old
- Tires are good
- JBL hideaway amp/Bluetooth receiver and 4 speakers
- Front light bar. Headlights are new in my ownership, but the sealed beams are pretty terrible. I used the light bar in the mountains, or else you were blind on any of the tight turns.
- 4 seater bench from newish Sprinter van.
- Added a cheap backup cam and monitor.
- Added LED light to come on with reverse.
Bad/inoperable :
- AC system is broken. Was not factory equipped with "front" AC, so only AC is rear ceiling mounted unit and that's broken. Something wrong with compressor that happened at the end of last long trip on it. Have not investigated, but AC doesn't work, and it stinks like burning clutch from the compressor.
- (Maybe good, maybe bad?) I put a fitting and some dryer duct and ran AC up to the driver. Looks cheesy, but worked when AC worked.
- Floor has some spots that the vinyl is cracked, underlying plywood feels spongey. No risk of near-term failure, but not perfect.
- Speedo is intermittent. All other gauges work.
- Drivers door panel is loose. Was parked at my dad's until I brought it home to wash it today and he apparently attempted a zip-tie and duct tape solution that should probably be redone/undone.
It's not speed demon with the 5.7, but it's gone on multiple 5-9 hour road trips with large groups and never once left us stranded or gave us any trouble. Was used to take the extended family to music festivals, on vacation and occasionally just out to eat.
Hoping for $4250. Negotiable if you don't want/need the sprinter seat. Have a bunch of pictures that I'll slowly add. Tedious to add photos on mobile, for me.
