Next up on the hit list is a 2004 Mazda 3. 2.3L, 5 speed. I would call it fair to poor condition. It has some doinks and dinks. It's also seen some northern roads. There isn't any excessive corrosion but it is there.
Currently runs and drives but doesn't run well and overheats. I'm about 80% certain it has a popped head gasket.
I got the car for free with a locked up alternator. I replace the alternator, belt, and tensioner. I'm pretty sure it overheated before I got it.
I'm $180 into it. I'll let it go for a donation in that amount to your favorite charity.
Edit: holy berkeley. I shot my mouth before engaging brain. Between miata, truck needing engine, mazda6 needing rehab, and kitchen remodel, i do NOT need to add this to my plate.
Someone else please.
Got any old Datsun 510's or BMW 2002's headed to scrap this week?
Maybe an old Alfa Romeo?
Dibs tentatively unless someone else already laid claim to it. Anyone in the Cleveland Ohio area have a tow dolly they want to lend out?
Where are you located my son is turning 16 this would be a perfect 1st car and one to learn on

Get in touch with docwemple for shipping rates. May not be worth the time and gas vs shipping
In reply to Blunder :
If you come down, i have grm relay stuff for patrick and gumby that would be awesome to send to ohio with you....
In reply to P3PPY :
Thanks! Yeah, I've always been able to do it for less money. Best part, more time to work on other projects!
Gosh darn. I want this.
Lemme know if ya got anything else you are getting rid of.
In reply to P3PPY :
Thanks for the suggestion. I'm gonna look into that.
I'll hop in line just in case
I'll tag on with Rob, if you have anything else heading out I would love to pick it up to have my students practice wrenching and shifting on. My school is in Park Circle and I teach them basic car maintenance as well as how to drive manual (well, 1,2,R is all we can do in the parking lot) each year.
In reply to Blunder :
Let me know. I can get you an estimate quickly
In reply to Blunder :
if you relay my stuff back from michael you can borrow my old trailer, put tires on it, and never return it
Darn. I wish i had seen this earlier. I am only like 30 minutes from you. Put me on the list, however far down that is.
In reply to Patrick :
I really appreciate that offer! ...but I don't think I'm gonna be able to make this work to go get the car. I'm gonna have to pass this one to the next person in line.
I am looking for a southern vehicle and the sooner I can find one the better so if it's in South Carolina, soon, and you still need the relay I'll be in touch.
I continue to love this forum and it's members.

If am interested in this if and only if it is going to go to the scrapper. I did tell a few people I'd teach them how to drive a manual and they *sure as heck* aren't learning on my Subaru. I've also been debating giving FWD in rallycross a whirl.

How much would be to ship to Chicago.
Great candidate for a 2.5 MZR swap! They are cheap and pretty much just plop right in there.
Has anyone claimed this thing yet? Sorry to be a pain but how bad is the rust?
