Hey guys - I'm helping a friend get the word out about a fairly unique 996 he has. Japanese-market 1999 Porsche 911 Carrera in rare Glacier White with black extended leather (instrument binnacle, armrest, door panels.) Low 45,xxx miles.
It has excellent options including 030 chassis tuning and xenon lighting. 030 chassis tuning indicates (usually) stiffer shocks/springs, beefier sway bars, solid mounts. It is a Tiptronic car (typical for Japanese market) but would be an excellent cruiser or spouse's sports car.
Robust service history from Japan with numerous service dealer stampings. No rust, no evidence of accidents. Early production model built alongside 993 with numerous other benefits associated with early build 996s, ranging from 993-spec headliner to manual trunk and dual row IMS which has a far, far lower (almost zilch) failure rate.

Um, 1999 is not "early build" 996. They came out as 1997 models, and that's the only year built alongside the 993. Also, the dual-row IMS bearings were all over the map throughout 996 production, and statistically have a similar failure rate as the single-row. I've also never heard of a 993 headliner in a 996 nor do I understand why that would be "better" (997's had the headliner failures). Glacier White was also the only white on 99 996's, so it's not rare at all. It was one of the "base" colors that you didn't have to pay extra for.
Nice car and all, but man your friend has no idea what they have.
FWIW, those miles are way to liw to trust it. Plus D chunking was quite common on early m96 engines. The M96 really needs regular use. Great engine when driven regularly.

While not a fan of the fried egg headlights of that generation - although I certainly don't seem to find them as insulting now as I did when these came out - I have to admit it is looking great in white.
I do find it weird that it isn't right hand drive though since it is a Japanese market car.
45K might be optimistic, but fingers crossed.
The price of 996 and 997's has softened a bit since a high point in January of 2023. This car being a tiptronic /w no documented IMS replacement and a condition of a 2 (excellent condition) on Hagerty has a value of around $30,800. This is based on a #2 being worth around $44k but 2 15% penalties for the automatic and original IMS. Even in concours condition Hagerty values this car at around $41,300 ($59,000 - 30%)
Bring a trailer showed a 99 /w 52k miles and an IMS recently sold for $25k.
