Briefly talked with the current owner (her in the second pic) it was her husband's car and he was going to make a hot rod out of it. He never got around to this one due to so many other car projects he was working on. She sounded like she didn't mind the idea of the next owner cutting it up and making a racecar out of it.

I originally was thinking of a M/R V8 swap. Measurements I took suggested that would be a dream, though.
I had a friend that drove one of those in high school. His father was in the TV repair business and I believe it came from him.
It looks really far gone to rust, but somehow putting a Miata chassis or something under it would be awesome.

Is this vehicle's rear track width much less than a Northstar Caddy?

I bet he had an ultimate set of tools.
That's about the same as the front wheel track on a 90's FWD Cadillac.
It would be a massive undertaking but that might be one route to mid-engine V8 power. Something more narrow would be easier though.
