I impulse bought this from Stan a few weeks ago. Since then I decided that I really want to clear out a lot of projects and focus on one or two. If anyone wants this for the $500 I paid I will sell it before I pull the drivetrain and stash it in the garage for a future project.
61 Ford Ranchero
Lots of rust (seriously)
289, 4 speed manual, 8" rear end
In Columbus, OH, buy it before I change my mind again.
Just yesterday I was thinking about finding a 289/manual donor.
In reply to Stampie (FS) :
If you want the drive gear, I’ll work something out with ya on the body ... iron oxide and all!!!
Aw man, I love Rancheros. I hope this one isn't too far gone to save.
Totally cool. I'd drop it down on a Vic or s10 chassis.
If anyone wants the running gear I'd be interested in chatting about a split deal.

Stock, almost for sure! Tube chassis...
I’m thinkin’ narrowed, tubbed, tube rear, fiberglass tilt front, 390 GT I have on the shelf...
Tell y'all what, whoever buys the body I'd be willing to go in for the engine/trans and maybe rear end if you don't want it.
In reply to EvanB (Forum Supporter) :
Is the 8” stock 4 lug,or 5, and has front been converted to 5 (still drum brake), or still 4?

It's 5 lug and drums all around.
Thanks. I hope stampie and I can do something!
as a kid my moms mom had a 64 falcon, and my dads mom had a 65 comet. I bought my first car - 64 comet - in 79. Several since, but not in 25 years!
I figured the driveline is worth a fair bit more than the $500 entry fee, so I figured the body’d be real cheap! Shame it’s so far away from us!

Funny, I was thinking the same thing...this would be a great body to drape over a full-race tubeframe drag racing, road racing, or hillclimb monster!
In reply to slowbird :
I have the engine for a nice retro feel, but no money/time to make the rest a cool as an ‘ol ranchero deserves, so if anyone REALLY wants to build it nice ,I’d rather let them. But I am a HUGE fan, and when stampie weighed in, I know we can do a deal!!!
If this helps I'll put $300 towards the engine/trans/rear axle. To be honest if I bought the whole thing I'd try to recover as much as possible for Challenge purposes.
Ford Falcons were used as oval racers back in the day. Imagine a retro-style build, but with a Ranchero.
I'm doing my best to ignore this thread.

Don't know if you saw it but I sent you a PM yesterday.

I don't think the rust will hold!

i'll pay $500 for the 289, tranny and all hardware, (brackets etc.) if someone can pull it out provided it is not seized.

Bump. Still here, still haven't done anything with it. I need to clear stuff out and concentrate on projects i will finish.
In reply to EvanB (Forum Supporter) :
Ignoring ... still haven't found/bought the perfect body for this drivetrain.
