Beautiful color and incredible condition. Not sure why they call it a "Slant 8" though. That's weird.

Wow, that's beautiful. I really like those cars and that's the best color for them.

I don't know why either, but it definitely seems like a thing. This is from hagerty:

Mercedes-Benz eschewed the fins of the previous W110 series with the introduction of the Paul Bracq-designed W114/115 “Strich Acht” cars in 1968.

Answered my own question from Wiki

Mercedes used a '/8' on the W114/115 ID plates, indicating their 1968 launch year, giving rise to their '/8' or 'slash eight' nicknames — and the German nickname Strich Acht, loosely translated into English as stroke eight.

From his description, he sounds like the kind of guy that you would like to buy a car from. He discloses some faults that it might otherwise take some time to discover. That's honest and generous.

Seller's Description

1969 Mercedes 250/8 (slant 8 or stricht acht) Inline 6 cylinder gas with 4 speed in the floor. Original working Becker radio!!! The carpet was replaced. She is a 20 footer, with plenty of blemishes. I think she has been repainted once. I bought it out of Indianapolis a few years ago. Owner told me it had been sitting for 35 years in a garage. He had the engine rebuilt. By the junk in the gas tank, I believed him. I replaced the entire gas tank and filter screen. All new brakes (although the rear right caliper needs replaced- which the new caliper comes with the car). I replaced the voltage regulator. Part of the headliner at the rear is coming down, the speedometer has a nasty squeal (I unplugged the cable from it). I don’t believe it is the original dash/mileage anyway. One push rod from the heater controls is broke at the valve, and the AC does not work (compressor needs replaced). Other than that it is quite the head turner. We get smiles and waves!

The w114/115 was a great chassis (4 wheel disk brakes, independent rear suspension), and the pre 73 facelift are the one to get (smaller bumpers, narrow grille, triangle vent windows in the front, better tail lights)

The heater valve is probably frozen and should be replaced, but the york compressor probably just needs a new front seal.

And it's a manual-super rare! If it was yellow my wife would buy it...

It's really nice that these are SemiTrailing cars, not swing axle cars like the contemporary S and SL.

These weren't necessarily sporty like a 2002, but I think one of these with an electric drivetrain would be a ridiculously cool around town cruiser.  Silent and lowered slightly would be badass.

I like the blue they came in (though I'd fix the camber on this one):
