Is this what's known as a flat windshield super?

I don't think it is a super.  Looks like it still has the torsion bar front end.   In my opinion one of the good years.

1600 dual port heads.  Going to need a complete going through, but a great basis to start with.

I think the flat windshield supers had the short front end and standard suspension. Only came out two or three years, I believe.

I really like those. 

I don't think SuperBeetles were out in '70.  

Flat window Supers were 71 and 72. Easy way to tell is the front apron had little louvers at the bottom (kinda like those below the rear window) Standards had a solid front apron.

The flat window Supers had McPherson front strut suspension.

My first car was a 71 Super.

I am always trying to learn more about these early supers. I had a neighbor that had one and always wanted to get one. Did not know about the front vents, clearly seen on the one below.
