If you're like me, you've enjoyed Irish's thread about his Raider/Montero build.
Via FB I just stumbled on to this one that looks like it could be a good buy. It will probably need tires but that means it's probably a good time to add more tire!

That is amazing! Seems like a good deal for a pretty low mileage vehicle with a sweet interior, even with an automatic trans
That is an insane deal, even with the 2.6 and auto, it should be easily worth $5000, maybe more. The manual trans in these is not very desirable anyway, its quite weak and has terrible shift feel. This also has the offroad package, notice the headlight squirters, so it also has the rear LSD (4.625 ratio!!) and bouncy seat.
The 2.6 isnt a bad engine, but the factory Mikuni carb can give issues. Upgrading a weber DGV carb solves all those problems. The 1987 year came with the better design exhaust manifold, a 4-2-1 manifold, instead of the crappy pre-87 4-1 with integrated pre-cat.
I can vouch these are way fun trucks, super cheap to maintain and there are lots of upgrades out there.
My build thread is here. It's extremely capable even with 235/75r15 tires, it did every trail on drummond island other than the marblehead steps.

Wait, terrible shift feel? My Montero has the best feeling 'longitudinal manual' i've maybe ever used! Well, other than 3rd gear synchro maybe needing some help if i ever upgrade it enough to shift higher than 5000 rpms.
It also has really good heel-toe pedal placement!

Haha well I guess if its relative to a miata or honda, its quite terrible! Relative to a tractor, quite good! Our 3rd gear is also finicky, I rebuilt our shifter and put new GL4 fluid in it (these trans synchros do NOT like GL5!!!) and its marginally better. It shifts just fine if you're not in a hurry :)
I'm fine with but not crazy about Miata transmissions (owned an NA for a while). I have an S2000 in here for a power steering repair right now and im not crazy about that either. I think what i actually don't like is (relatively) short throw shifters in general, lol. I also tend to like the way cable shifted cars feel better than rod/linkage shifters. I'm just a weirdo.
