Grrrrr. You are gonna get me in SO much trouble....
'Course you post the perfect platform for me to put my LT1 / T56 in - one of my bucket list cars in fact. Even the correct color. EXACTLY one day after I sell it to someone from here!
I do have a 99 4.3V6/4L60E that could drop right in... How much do I need to send you to go put a down payment on it for me ( has to come with a place to live, though. My wife aint gonna let me back in the house.)

Can't help with the T56. You find one of those that would work with that car and one of those engines and the Challenge budget and I'll pay you $100 to pick it up for me.
Only reason I'd ever use a LT1 intentionally in these days and times, is I had an almost running 97 Formula I could have justified 8 hs x min wage (for pulling it out of the woods as scrap) sitting around. Offered it on here and elsewhere for $400 w/parts car, if I kept the trans. No intrest. Told folks the best price I ever found on a used T56 was 1200, so I'd take 1200 for the whole car. No takers till yesterday. I do owe the original owner 300 now that I sold it, but that would not have counted against the budget, since I didn't owe her anything if I kept it.
Hopefully the new owner will start a build thread on here soon!
I'm a lot more carb friendly, so a SBC would still be the easy button for me. The Paul Newman method of "fixing" a volvo wagon appeals to me the most, but I also cannot afford a 5.0 with a puffer (his words, to David Letterman)
If I get 3 more project / parts cars sold, my wife would actually let me bring that home. But I imagin it well be long gone by then.
