Okay this is back available.

Fire Sale price.  $950 Firm.

Make it disappear please.   This probably should be really considered a drivetrain donor or parts car vs a repair and use car.

You get all top end rebuild parts (includes head bolts, gasket set, Timing set, water pump, mahle MLS gaskets, and spare heads) and the car on stock wheels with no good very bad tires.   Dealer diagnosed "bad exhaust valve" so this *Should* repair the drivetrain and make it a 220K mile WRX drivetrain with new head gaskets and timing belt.  Trans goes in all gears in the limited driving i have done (seriously like 3 miles) it doesn't seem to have 2nd gear issues or anything.

Car has good bumpers, trunk lid, original hood, interior is nice so this would probably quickly part to $0 for a challenge donor of a EJ205.    Or use it as an entire drivetrain donor for a GC8 WRX build of your dreams.  Whatever you want as long as it doesn't happen in my driveway.  Car starts/runs but needs a battery and the brakes are not the best after sitting for 3 years.

Old listing below.

2002 WRX 5-speed, 220,500 miles, Illinois year round use car.

The good:

It's a cheap WRX.

Comes with timing set, water pump, head gaskets, head bolts, and a good set of heads to repair bad exhaust valve.

Clean title no Bill of sale only shenanigans here.

Overall body condition is pretty okay other then where rusted.  No huge dents, a few small scratches and a small crease in the front fender (Other then the rust obviously)

Interior is not bad at all.

It's all there.

100% stock.  Was just someones car.  It was dealer serviced until traded in when the exhaust valve went bad.  No modifications that I have found.

The Bad:

Bad exhaust valve.  Car runs, drives, stops, but I would not drive it far.

High mileage

No good tires.  Comes with OEM wheels and I can include a set of 17x7 Toyota wheels that have tires with treads on them but very old.

It's Crusty.  I'm not going to sugar coat it. It's not great underneath.  It was used year round in Illinois.   The sills are kinda missing and there is some through rust on the rear frame rails above the subframe.  Also the quarters have some holes. I will check the front and rear strut towers tonight to ensure they are not basically missing.  I had looked a while ago and they seemed okay but I will give them a good poke around before someone makes the commitment to come see it/buy it.

Also both front lower arms need replaced.  Not like..  NOW.. but before substantial driving is undertaken.

This would make a good drivetrain donor, or donor for a GC8 WRX swap, or 818 kit.   This is not an excellent repair and make it your enthusiast WRX.    Sill covers are intact and in the car.

I. Want. Every. Single. Thing. You. Put. Up. For. Sale.

Alas, I've done very little with the Miata you sold me, and a notice came in the mail that this town is cracking down on derelict vehicles, even those under carports. Good luck with sale is what I'm trying to say.

I am still tempted to buy this and then figure out how to get it back to NC. It would be the incredibly easy button for my legacy wagon Challeng Car Project

Do the GRM thing.  Buy first, decide how to get it home later.

(seriously, we could probably figure out how to get it much closer to you than you think)

Several guys are heading to Indianapolis for PRI in December.  I could store it here until someone else could get closer to your.

It's still here.

Yes it can definitely find itself on the east side of Indianapolis in December 7th I have to pick up a car there so I can easily drag it over.  That's like 17% closer ..

It's what we do.

You could even do an epically Ill advised fly and drive.  The exhaust valve might not fail spectacularly in the next 12 hours of driving.  And the Indy airport is cheap to fly in and out of...

It's holiday time, the worst time to try to get a last minute flight. I do have a bunch of time off leading into the New Year, though. I'm seriously trying to make the logistics work.

I understand.  I can pull the driveshaft to make it tow dolly able.  That's how I'd get it to Indy anyway.  I'd find the best 2 tires for you.   Maybe the GRM express could get it closer?

Yeah, it would be a tow dolly escapade or a white knuckle fly and drive.

Serious about storing it here for you, whether you fly and drive or trailer it home.

Nocone's has my contact information, and can attest to the fact that I have plenty of space to park it.

That would make it a bit easier. I'll try to make a final decision soon, but the holidays have me jumping.

If it sells between then and now, I get it.

Bump.  I could easily be convinced this week to bundle this with the 2004 Forester PimpM3 ran at the challenge.  It's COMPLETELY rust free, but has rod knock.  Combine them into a pretty great challenge / overall car by doing Subaru Lego things and putting the WRX uprights/brakes/drivetrain in the Forester.   I would let the whole pile go for exactly challenge budget.

The forester is in great shape with Maxpeedingrods coilovers and NO RUST.  I have other ideas for the Forester but I also would be willing to just get rid of it before I touch it.  All I have done is pull off a rocker cover to validate the condition of the MINTY sills.

I have way too much going on to do head gaskets as regular maintenance.  Cause you know I'd turn up the boost.

Bump.   And I'll just turn this into a build thread for the Forester.  Swapping the engine that was in the Challenge LMP360 so this engine has challenge pedegree.

2.5 hours of work.   Broke no bolts.

Once the Forester swap is done the WRX gets the same treatment.  I guess.  Or gets a plasma across the floor and A pillars making it a Front cut swap drivetrain.   Can't decide yet but will probably next week.

Ok.  So the Forrester hit a little snagish.  The engine I have doesn't have EGR.  So I decided I should swap the heads.

Also the rods on the engine are toasty.  1 of the pistons has about 1/8" play when changing directions.  Ouch.

But all the bores on the 200k mile motor look great so it's totally worth it but now I'm waiting on head gaskets and since this motor will probably stay in the Forester forever I bought a clutch and flywheel set.

But those parts won't all be here until next week.  So I had some time.    The reality is due to lack of interest the WRX is going to go to the big scrapyard in the sky.  So I pulled it into the garage to disassemble some parts off it (mostly just drivetrain).

When backing it into the garage the A-arms collapsed so that was cool.

But then after about 2X the time the Forester took this happened.

So I guess now this is a part out thread.  But you only have a week.  The car goes to the scrapyard Friday.   I can't pull the rear axle it has to stay to roll it to the scrap yard.

I don't have an immediate purpose for the drivetrain, so I would sell it.  Say $700 for the engine and all its rebuild parts.   I'm not planning to pull the wiring harness but could be convinced for another $100-150 depending on if you would accept cut ends on the harness or wanted the whole thing intact.

Is the engine from the LMP360 the EJ22 from the Green '97 Impreza?

Nope it's running a rebuilt EJ251 I found on FBM.  I still have the 2.2s though.

Apparently there was a back room network going on to help me get this car down to Raleighwood.

The timing for the whole car was terrible, but I might be interested in some parts- primarily the trans and differential. Maybe a 2.2 engine. UGH. I'll have to mull this over.
